How Ifa indicted politicians fuelling
insecurity — Ooni

OSOGBO—OONI of Ife,
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi,
yesterday, warned politicians to
desist from acts capable of further
worsening the security situation
in the country, saying the Yoruba
traditional oracle, Ifa, indicted
them (politicians) over the crisis
in Nigeria.
The monarch spoke in his
palace, in Ile-Ife, to mark the end
of the World Ifa Festival.
He warned politicians to desist
from bad practices like lying,
corruption and other vices that
could ruin the country, describing
Ifa as the voice of God.
He said: “In 2019, Ifa said there
would be a pandemic but the
world paid little or no attention,
tagging it as idol worshiping. But
the COVID-19 came to prove it
right. Thank God that we were
spared from the evil wave.
“Also, last year, Ifa said there
would be several agitations like
we have across the country today,
we have prayed and we shall
keep praying.
“In the corpus named
OseKaran, Ifa revealed that most
of our challenges are the
Kumuyi lists secrets of fulfilled life

Superintendent of the
Deeper Christian Life Ministry,
Pastor Williams Kumuyi, said,
yesterday, that what matters in life
is the fulfillment of God’s purpose
for every individual, and not the
number of years spent on earth.
Kumuyi, who noted that people
are usually interested in how long
a person lives, said: “It is not the
number of years but the
appointment of God that matters.”
The cleric said this in his
sermon, titled: Our glowing
privileges from glory to glory, at
the Sunday service in the Deeper
Life Bible church international
headquarters, in Gbagada,
Lagos.
During the service, attended by
governors of Lagos and Akwa
Ibom states, Messrs. Babajide
Sanwo-Olu and Udom
Emmanuel, respectively, Pastor
Kumuyi challenged all to strive
to live out the purpose of God for
their lives.
His words: “Moses started his
ministry at the age of 80 years
and went on to 120 years. It was
not only him. Think of Caleb,
beyond the age of 85, he was still
strong and he said, "give me this
mountain." Think about Joshua
when he was quite an age,
nearing 100 years, he said there
was still much land to be
conquered. Think about John the
beloved, at the age of 95 or 96, he
was still given the Revelation, to
go and reveal to the nations.
“That is why we do not question
that so and so died at 57 or 72;
that’s the appointed time. Yet, the
promise of a fulfilled life is for
everyone, in Jesus’ name.”
The cleric, however, warned
against presumptuous sin,
saying such lifestyle and
indulgences do not guarantee
divine protection but detract from
the original promise for man,
noting that “If you are
incorruptible, you will be a
wonder. God will be a strong
refuge. He will keep you from
evil.”
In his remarks, Governor
Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude
to God for the strength and
continued grace granted Pastor
Kumuyi, who he noted, has over
handiwork of desperate
politicians. Ifa warned them
sternly to desist from their evil
ways, or wait to face the wrath of
Olodumare.
“Above all, Orunmila said there
won’t be war and all challenges
currently facing us as a country
would soon be a thing of the past,
and we shall emerge prosperous
very soon.”
Besides, the monarch urged
traditional rulers to sustain the
promotion of the prestigious
Yoruba culture and traditions
through festivals and other
ancient activities, towards the
preservation of the heritage for
generations yet unborn.

He said: “Bloodshed will not
continue in our country. The Lord
will help us to surmount all our
problems as a nation. And because
we are serving the God that is
supreme, He will see us through
as a nation.”
Similarly, Governor Emmanuel, who
also expressed hope of a turn-around for
Nigeria, said: “God is on the throne; we
shall come out stronger as a nation,”
Emmanuel said, adding that “The only
hope for this nation is the church. God is
interested in the affairs of this country.”
LG poll: Chairmanship aspirant
petitions APC over primary

LAGOS—A chairmanship
aspirant of the All
Progressives Congress, APC, in
Iru/Victoria Island LCDA, Mr.
Akinwunmi Bayode, yesterday,
petitioned the State Appeals
Committee on Local Government
Election, over alleged fraudulent
manipulations in the just
concluded direct primaries, held
across the state.
In the petition, Bayode alleged
electoral malpractices,
intimidation and oppression of
his loyalists. Evidence abound
that he defeated Rasheeda Adu,
the incumbent Chairman of Iru/
Victoria Island LCDA, in the
controversial primary.
He said: “I write to formally
inform the election appeal
committee of the non-adherence
to the laid down election
guidelines to which I have
subscribed to as aspirant in the
May 29, 2021, primary election
for the position of chairman in Iru/
Victoria Island and the eventual
attempt made to subvert the truth,
intimidation and oppression
witnessed on same day leading to the
crisis in almost all the wards in our LCDA.
“It is based on these facts and evidence
to be tendered that I request the total
cancellation of this exercise to be held at
a date to be decided by the party.
“It is on record that only two aspirants
finally vied for chairmanship at the final
stage, which involved incumbent
Rasheeda Adu and myself, Akinwumi
Bayode. The events that led to these
attempted manipulations started three
days into nomination; few members came
to conclude that Rasheeda Adu has been
given the nod by the party hierarchy to
return as a consensus candidate without
considering her incompetence,
maladministration, high handedness
and lack of transparency, coupled with
very weak leadership."
