About the Publisher
Established in 2018, Toplight Books is an imprint of McFarland
with a focus on the body, mind and spirit. We seek to
offer a wide array of books that explore these basic, essential
components of being human that in the pace and pressure of
modern life are too often relegated to the periphery. The neglect
of our physical, mental and spiritual selves diminishes our
capacity to respond to life and each other, to the great detriment
of personal and planetary well-being, and we hope to counter
the trend with well-researched books covering any or all of the
three core human dimensions, in original and inspiring ways.
Toplight’s interests include uplifting and positive books
about psychology and mindfulness, religious studies and
spirituality, and alternative health treatments. We seek to cover
topics as wide-ranging as hiking, fitness, yoga, dance, aging,
neurodiversity, sleep, dreams, nature, leadership, chemical
sensitivity, chronic pain, parenting, relationships, travel, and
health memoirs.
Becoming an Author

ubmissions from authors and literary agents are invited, and
should be directed to executive editor Lisa Camp’s attention
at toplightbooks@mcfarlandpub.com. For general guidelines for
prospective authors, please refer to Toplight’s author resource
center at ToplightBooks.com. For very technical or scholarly works
about medicine, social sciences, or philosophy (for example), direct
those submissions to McFarland at proposals@mcfarlandpub.
com. Among librarians and scholars especially, McFarland is
viewed as distinguished yet daring, and we suggest you browse
