Strategic directions
• Significant geological and
geomorphological sites will be protected.
• Pest plants and animals that have the
potential to threaten park values will be
eradicated or otherwise controlled.
The park visitor
• Visitor understanding and appreciation of
the park’s natural and cultural values will
be enhanced by the implementation of an
appropriate information, interpretation and
education program.
• Sustainable visitor activities and
behaviours that minimise impacts on park
values will be encouraged in appropriate
locations in the park.
• Recreational opportunities will be
provided in accordance with table 2.
• Visitor safety will be enhanced by the
establishment of a monitoring and
maintenance program, including regular
safety audits for visitor facilities and sites.
Community awareness and involvement
• An awareness and understanding of the
park and its management, and a sense of
ownership and custodianship, will be
encouraged among local communities and
visitors.
• Strong relationships will be further
developed and maintained with
communities and groups who have strong
connections or interests in the park as a
basis for encouraging their participation in
aspects of the park’s management, as
appropriate.
• Strong collaborative partnerships will be
developed with the Traditional Owners to
facilitate the reflection of their knowledge,
rights, and interests and aspirations in the
park’s planning and management.
• Friends, volunteers, Indigenous and other
community groups will be encouraged and
supported to participate in areas of park
management that relate to their interests.
• Friends, volunteers and other interest
groups will be encouraged to develop an
understanding and appreciation of the
park’s values and the rich and diverse
knowledge and aspirations of the
Traditional Owners.
• Ongoing opportunities for individuals,
groups, communities and government
agencies to discuss aspirations and issues
of mutual concern relating to the park will
be maintained.
