2022 Junior School Course InformationOUTSIDE THE BOX / THE WORLD OF DESIGNSubject descriptionDo you like designing? Are you good at thinking outside the box? Do you like the challenge of parameters thatyou can stretch and push against? Outside the box might be for you! Students will be supported to explore arange of manual and digital methods to create new designs, pattern repeats, illustrations and more in responseto a range of briefs. Students will explore and be inspired by the work of Indigenous designers working in graphicdesign, costume, jewellery and furniture. All visual arts subjects support the development of observationaldrawing, the design process and use of design language.IndonesianSubject DescriptionStudents are encouraged to listen, speak, read and write Indonesian in a range of interactions with fellowstudents and their teacher. They use Indonesian language to suit different purposes, contexts and situations, theynotice how culture shapes language. Learners work collaboratively and independently. They pool languageknowledge and resources, plan, problem-solve, monitor and reflect. They make cross-curricular connections andexplore intercultural perspectives. Students explore the causes of the wars and why Australians enlisted, significant battles and places that theAustralian’s took part in, significant events and turning points. They will also examine the nature of warfare,including the Holocaust and the use of the atomic bomb. Students will investigate how the wars changedAustralian society on the home front and the significance of WW2 on international relationships.
