large numbers during the school holidays. It is felt that
the new door in the East End has encouraged those who
perhaps had only thought of looking at the monastic
ruins, are now coming through the door, to see inside
and learn a little more from the information panels
about the Priory Church.

BINHAM PRIORY PASSION
Two years ago it was suggested that we should try to
emulate the villagers of Oberammergau in staging the
second Binham Passion Play just before Easter, ten
years after the first in 2011. This had been such a
success on so many levels with full audiences. Covid
prevented staging it this year, but we would like to try
for 2022.
The proposed dates for the Dress Rehearsal and
Three Performances are:
Monday 11 th to Thursday 14 th April 2022,
Binham Priory Church, 6.30pm to about 8pm.
We have the key elements of the production team,
particularly a very experienced Director. Now, we hope
many of you will take part as actors of all ages, (you
will not have to learn many lines), and/or support staff
for costumes, make-up, scenery, props, lighting, ushers,
car-parking and general help. In 2011 more than 50
young people and adults were involved.
If you do see this issue of the Lynx in time to come
to a meeting on Friday 1 st October at 6.30pm in the
Priory Church you will hear much more about the
production. We’d love to see you and will offer a
welcome glass of wine or fruit juice. To gauge the

don’t have to live in Binham to take part.

BINHAM PRIORY CONCERTS
Two delightful concerts took place to capacity
audiences in Binham Priory during the summer, made
possible by the co-operation of the performers and
respect of the Covid precautions by those attending.
Norwich Baroque and The Brook Street Band each
performed their programmes in two sittings, a matinée,
and an evening concert, to allow us to keep social
distancing at a safe level.
These live performances were very much
appreciated after months of being denied such pleasure.
We hope to bring you a full programme of five
concerts in our Summer Season for 2022.

I think all our inner sailors are crying ‘steady as she
goes!’ as we reach the second autumn with Covid 19
still hanging about. As I write this for the October/
November issue, it is certainly what I am thinking.
Events have restarted. We have had weddings and
bingo; the village show to come in September, the
Harvest Lunch and Quiz Night in early October. The
gorgeous flower-planted planters are still blooming.
