Rotary Club of
Blairgowrie
We are delighted to be meeting up face to
face again, in our new venue, the Blairgowrie
Golf Club. Same day – Wednesday and time –
6 for 6.30pm.
All visitors are welcome, but please do
contact our secretary Deborah Rogers - email:
secretary@blairgowrie.rotary1010.org so that
we can let the caterers know the numbers
for the meal. We are also investigating hybrid
meetings; we know that not all our members
are happy or able to meet up face to face.
And hybrid meetings would allow us to have
speakers from further afield.
also supported by Bentley UK, who displayed
and entered their new models, Milford
Engineering, Classic Restorations, Morris
Leslie and the Cameron Group, as well as club
members, to all of whom we are incredibly
grateful. This is the 4th time our small club
of 25 members has run this event, which
has now raised around £100,000 for various
good causes. Special thanks must go to club
member Colin Stewart and his wife Anne, the
“driving force” behind the event.
Games Night
Drive it Day
Drive it Day was finally held on 22nd August,
having been postponed twice because of
Covid. Over £30,000 was raised: Bowel Cancer
UK and Alzheimers Scotland each received
£12,250 with £6,125 for the club’s own
benevolent fund which supports the local
community.
In October we invited community groups
to enter teams for a Games Night, held in
Rattray Bowling Club. 8 table top games were
played, and after 7 rounds Blair in Bloom won
the first prize of £100. A “hybrid” team from
Nest, Blair in Bloom and Rotary were runners
up, winning £50. Our local community was
well represented, with teams from BRAN,
SWI, the Tennis Club, the Highland Games,
ProCom and Blairgowrie Rotary. Everyone
had great fun, and we have been asked to do
it again; watch this space!
75 cars of all types and ages, from a vintage
Bullnose Morris to a modern Lamborghini,
gathered at Blairgowrie Golf Club in the
morning, drove to St Andrews for a picnic
lunch at the West Sands and ended up at the
Atholl Palace Hotel, Pitlochry, for High Tea.
Everyone enjoyed the spectacular scenery
and had a great day out.
The cars were waved off from the Golf Club
by the Provost of Perth and Kinross, Dennis
Melloy. The drivers were truly generous with
their donations, as was our main sponsor
Graham Environmental Services. We were
