It was a nice moment with Rachel Corsie
getting the winner as captain. How good a
leader has she been?
We are very lucky with the spirit of players we
have and the leadership they bring. Rachel
is a player who is calm and day by day lives
the values of Scotland. That is what we are
trying to develop and is something we want to
encourage. It’s not just for the young players
to learn, but for all the players so they can
continue to develop and improve.
You are a few months into the job, how have
you settled in so far?
The more I get into the job and the different
tasks, in terms of the performance pathway
for Scotland, the more I enjoy it. I think I can
contribute massively - we have a group of
people at the Scottish FA that are willing to
make things happen and move things forward
for the women’s game. I am enjoying every
second of working for the senior national team,
but also reviewing the youth programmes and
trying to make the game grow for the whole
country.

After the Ukraine match you go back to your
home country, Spain. What is your take on
that match?
To play away from home is always an
uncomfortable feeling for every team, but for
me it will be the opposite. I know the opponent
and we will prepare to play against someone
who plays in a way that you understand.
I really respect the job that the Spain national
team have been doing over the last year and
the way the players have developed. We
will aim to match them and be at the level
of competitiveness required to represent
Scotland.
