This photo was a part of my series: Industrial Landscapes.
This image specifically was taken in Ludwigshafen of a shipping
yard with the BASF chemical plant in the distant background.
My intentions with this photo were to depict a busy and seemingly
chaotic urbanised area in a way that lets the viewers appreciate
the beauty that lies within. By using elements of the picturesque
the viewer will be drawn towards the beauty within the image
as opposed to the seemingly dull aspects of the subject.

The Big Day shows us how the band led by a man dressed in the
typical costume of that day wanders through the streets of the city,
announcing the start of the celebrations and brightening up the
morning while people decorate their houses.
