Liz Clark has been accepted to participate in <strong>the</strong> <strong>2012</strong> Critical Languages Program in intenstive Turkish language<br />
through <strong>the</strong> U.S. State Department. She will spend two months this summer in Izmir, Turkey, taking intensive<br />
Turkish language courses. This fall, she will be on fellowship at Georgetown University’s Masters in Public Policy<br />
Program.<br />
Mehran Mazinani has been awarded a Research Fellowship through <strong>the</strong> Graduate School for <strong>2012</strong>-2013.<br />
Brad Dennis has been awarded a University Teaching Assistantship through <strong>the</strong> Graduate School for <strong>2012</strong>-2013.<br />
He will teach a history course with Professor Peter Von Sivers.<br />
Kellie Stirling was accepted to a State Department program in Alexandria, Egypt, this summer through American<br />
Councils, which funds non-native speakers teaching Arabic or Chinese in high schools or community colleges.<br />
Nicholas Dutkiewicz received a fellowship in <strong>the</strong> Middle East program at Georgetown University.<br />
Lt. Colonel Ulises Calvo will replace Lt. Colonel Aaron Merrill as Chief of <strong>the</strong> Office of Defense Cooperation at<br />
<strong>the</strong> American Embassy in Beirut, where he will join Lt. Colonel Don Hall. All three are alumni of <strong>the</strong> Middle East<br />
Studies graduate program.<br />
Emine Hosoglu Dogan is teaching Turkish language courses as an Instructor at Istanbul Şehir University.<br />
Jillian Grisel has been accepted to American University in Beirut’s Masters in Public Health program, concentrating<br />
in community health and health promotion.<br />
Sheena Mugavin has been accepted into <strong>the</strong> Ph.D. program for Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies at <strong>the</strong><br />
University of Utah. She will be a Teaching Assistant in <strong>the</strong> program.
