2. ABOUT THE<br />
PRODUCER GROUPS<br />
• Satemwa Tea Estates Ltd is a family-run<br />
business which grows 90 hectares of tea. It<br />
has its own factory with a permanent<br />
workforce of up to 2,600 who are the principal<br />
<strong>Fairtrade</strong> beneficiaries. Green leaf is also<br />
purchased from more than 170 smallholder<br />
farmers.<br />
• Sukambizi Association Trust is the largest<br />
tea association in <strong>Malawi</strong>. It sells its green leaf<br />
to Lujeri Estates which processes and<br />
markets it including to <strong>Fairtrade</strong> markets.<br />
• Eastern Outgrowers Trust is a small farmer<br />
organisation which sells its green leaf tea to<br />
Eastern Produce <strong>Malawi</strong> which processes and<br />
markets the made tea on their behalf including<br />
to <strong>Fairtrade</strong> buyers<br />
