DALBY: April 24 - I am in the officeand have had to close the windowbecause the wind is cold.There was a saying in Inglewood,“that winter was on the way if there wasa frost by ANZAC Day” and with AN-ZAC Day tomorrow and the wind gustingthrough the trees outside, I can wellbelieve that winter is around the corner.April 20 - Wednesday was goodplaying weather, even though Johnforgot to put my name in to play and Iwalked home. I was very disappointed.Winners for the day were J. Marshalland W. Usher with 2+11, runners-upwith 2+8 were G. Fredericks, N. Rashleighand C. Brown.As has happened previously, the jokerjackpot went off last Sunday and the$ pool was the big sum of $8.The card for R. Handley and WhooperLane was drawn and low and beholdWhooper drew the joker and won thegreat amount of $8 to share.Men’s open singles competition betweenI. Buckley and K. Teakle wasplayed on Wednesday afternoon.I expected it would be a close andhard-fought game and that is the wayit started with the pair’s partners goinghead-to-head and being 9 all at onestage.SPORTBut Ian decided to up the fight andtook Keith down with 25 to 12 to takethe game.April 21 - Thursday morning bowlswere delayed until the afternoon, toreap as many ladies to play against the30 Sunshine Coast players, making atour of our district.Larry Haines collected 30 men forthe tour and with the 30 ladies and menfrom Dalby Club we had enough to givethem a great afternoon.Overall winners for the afternoonwas the team of G. Baker, D. Handyand C. Jollow, from Sunshine Coast andrunners-up was the Dalby team of S.McGahan, J. Cameron and V. Hart.After a few pale ales the SunshineCoast players were served dinner andhad plenty to talk and laugh about.We all hope that they enjoyed themselves.Now comes my funny part.
