Female pseudohermaphroditism
• The genetic sex in all cases is XX, and the
development of the gonads (ovaries) and internal
genitalia is normal.
• Only the external genitalia are ambiguous or
virilized
• Due to excessive and inappropriate exposure to
androgenic steroids during the early part of
gestation
• Secondary to congenital adrenal hyperplasia,
which is transmitted as an autosomal recessive
trait
