When They Stare<br />
When they stare at her I want to cry<br />
I want to give them the devil’s eye<br />
She’s a sweetie but they don’t know<br />
How much she thinks or what she knows<br />
When I read to her I smile<br />
Just knowing my sister inside has a heart as long as a mile<br />
Her face lights up as she reads a long<br />
Autism doesn’t slow her down no, she’s strong<br />
Reading is our way of life<br />
It’s what bonds us<br />
So what if Maddy has autism<br />
She’s still my sister and I still love her<br />
And reading is our great time<br />
