Using the <strong>Transfer</strong> <strong>Guide</strong><br />
Thank you for your interest in <strong>Old</strong> <strong>Dominion</strong> <strong>University</strong>!!! The ODU <strong>Transfer</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> is designed to assist<br />
students transferring to ODU from the Virginia Community College System and Richard Bland College in<br />
determining course equivalences and transfer credit. This resource should be used as a guide to<br />
recommending courses and completing prerequisites prior to transferring. Prospective transfer students<br />
should refer to the current curriculum sheets (http://uc.odu.edu/advising/cs/2010_2011.shtml) for<br />
more specific degree requirements and applicability of transfer credit.<br />
Courses that do not appear in the <strong>Transfer</strong> <strong>Guide</strong> may be transferable but have not been evaluated at this<br />
point. Below is a listing of ODU course prefixes and additional resources to better understand information<br />

Elective Credit<br />
Courses designated as elective credit (ELE) have not been equated to a specific <strong>Old</strong><br />
<strong>Dominion</strong> <strong>University</strong> course. Abbreviations for elective credit are:<br />
1ELE- Freshman level elective<br />
2ELE- Sophomore level elective<br />
3ELE- Junior level elective<br />
4ELE- Senior level elective<br />
General Education Requirements<br />
A “REQ” (requirement) designation means that the course does not equate to a specific<br />
lower level general education course. However, these courses do meet the goal of general<br />
education requirement and therefore fulfills our lower division requirement. A list of<br />
abbreviations used can be found below.<br />
