Just a message to welcome all <strong>of</strong> you to Syracuse University's International Relations Learning Community! I am the<br />

academic advisor for the IRLC <strong>and</strong> will be teaching the PSC 124 Introduction to International Relations course that is part<br />

<strong>of</strong> the IRLC shared experience for those who have not already taken the course.<br />

I am looking forward to our first class meeting on Monday, August 28th, at 11 :40 AM in Heroy Geo Lab 113 - this is the<br />

brick bUilding between the Dome <strong>and</strong> the <strong>Maxwell</strong> <strong>School</strong>. This week will be discussing our shared summer reading, The<br />

Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, so please bring your copy to class. I am attaching the syllabus for your information <strong>and</strong><br />

will bring print copies to class. A copy <strong>of</strong> the syllabus will also be available on electronic reserve at Bird library. To<br />

access library reserve, click here: http://library.syr.edu/ <strong>and</strong> select "Find Reserve" from the menu on the right. My name<br />

should be listed shortly (not up yet).<br />

Please note that there are two editions <strong>of</strong> our course text, Goldstein & Pevehouse, International Relations, on sale at the<br />

campus bookstore in Schine Center. Be sure to purchase the SEVENTH (7th) edition (2006) from the second shelf from<br />

the top where the PSC 124 texts are located. You will see a yellow tag with "PSC 124 D'Amico," <strong>and</strong> there are several<br />

used copies available, which are less expensive.<br />

I look forward to seeing you all at our IRLC 'Welcome" event on Monday evening at 7:00 PM in Sadler Hall. We will be<br />

discussing our Fall Retreat to Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, <strong>and</strong> other IRLC activities for the semester.<br />
