5 WAYS TO CUT DOWN ON STRESS
DURING A HOME REMODEL
Maybe you’ve grown just be kept together in an
sick enough of that 1970s other folder in order to easily put
avocado-green kitchen to your fingers on them. Just for fun,
update it to something more sleek make a folder of design ideas and
and modern. Or perhaps it’s as pictures from magazines to keep
simple as remodeling a bathroom. you inspired.
Whatever the room, home renovations
can test even the most Cover it up. One word: plastic.
patient personality through the No, not credit cards. Use it to
sheer chaos and mess that are cover all heavy furniture that must
inevitable.
stay in the room. This will prevent
To get through your renovation, dust and debris from getting into
organizing the clutter is key. The the nooks and crannies and keep
following tips should help you stay the finish on the furniture looking
on top of the disorder.
shiny.
Have files for everything. Paperwork
should be kept in one place
because it will pile up. Inexpensive
file folders that are portable can
help you stay structured. Create a
file for all receipts, and as you post
them to a budget, move them to
another file labeled “posted.” Permits
and papers from the city or
homeowner’s association should
Keep a list. Supplies are going to
run low, and no matter how good
your memory, things are going to
fall through the cracks if you don’t
write them down. Hanging a clipboard
on a nail in the area where
you are working will help you to
stay on point about people you
need to call, or things you need to
do or buy for the next day.
Have a place for everything.
If you’re doing the remodel yourself,
there is going to be a certain
amount of upheaval. One thing
that will help reduce your stress
level is keeping your tools in one
place. Create a space such as a
table, where all small tools are
kept The larger tools can sit on the
floor underneath. Also, every time
you are finished with a tool, put it
back in the appropriate spot.
Contain your stress. If cigarettes
or smokeless tobacco helps your
stress level, try your best to keep
things clean by going outside to
smoke or by carrying a portable
spittoon. After all, you don’t want
a fresh burn mark or stain from
a spill to end up on your brandnew
floors. FLASR has created a
unique, one-of-a-kind pocket-sized
spittoon that allows users to open
and shut it with just one hand,
making it an ideal solution for
taking your snuff, dip or chew into
any room that’s being renovated.
In addition, the Atlanta-based
company’s spittoon, has an advanced
closing mechanism, ensuring
that it stays securely closed
when not in use, eliminating the
risk of spill and leaks often seen
with cups and bottles.
LIGHTING
LAWN & GARDEN
LIGHTING YOUR LANDSCAPE LIKE THE PROS
According to the American
Lighting Association (ALA),
proper outdoor lighting is just as
important for a beautiful landscape as
a lush lawn, bright flowerbeds, green
plants and manicured shrubs.
Jeff Dross, corporate director of lighting
education and industry trends for
Kichler Lighting, recently explained
that homeowners are opening up to
new ideas with landscape lighting.
Use Indirect Light
Dross says the current trend is for
homeowners to highlight their landscaping
with indirect lighting, which
essentially uses a source to reflect the
light emitted by the light fixture. This
creates more of an atmospheric tone,
allowing the light to spread across
a wall off the side of a house more
effectively. Indirect light will illuminate
flower beds, gardens, bushes or other
decorative landscaping art. Additionally,
the light will bounce off the ground
and create a nicely lit walkway around
flowerbeds.
The Shift to LEDs
LED light bulbs are beginning to dominate
the landscape lighting industry.
For the majority of homeowners,
outdoor lights and landscape lighting
are typically left on longer than other
home lighting, which makes LEDs the
more affordable and logical option.
Additionally, LEDs can be manufactured
in much smaller sizes, which
give homeowners more options to use
them in unique spaces. Dross explains
that LEDs are so small, they can be
used as application lighting, as well
as for aesthetic purposes. Hardscape
designs are easy to mesh with LEDs,
because the style creates both a passageway
lighting source and indirect
lighting for stone or brick landscapes.
Keep It Simple
Two significant trends in landscape
lighting is simplicity and cleanliness.
What this means is that more homeowners
are choosing to go with fewer
ground fixtures to illuminate their
entire home. According to Dross, residents
who simply align their light fixtures
along a walkway in a very orderly
and organized fashion are providing
a lot of unnecessary light and wasting
energy.
Going for a more simplistic design can
still highlight plants and flower beds
while giving just enough light to illuminate
a backyard or around a patio.
Also, homeowners are moving toward
fewer lumens in light fixtures. This
allows the light beam to spread more
efficiently and even out the overall
light sources.
BEDROOM DESIGN TRENDS TO
COZY UP YOUR SPACE
You put a lot of care into trends to inspire your bedroom
curating your bedroom, design and help you get the
but these days, it may look sleep sanctuary of your dreams.
more like a gym or an office
than your sleep sanctuary. In
fact, Stanford News points to Relax with color
several nationwide surveys,
which found that more than For a fun and easy weekend
half of Americans now working project, Cho - founder and
from home are doing so from creative director of the lifestyle
their bedrooms.
brand and design studio, Oh
Joy! - recommends adding a
fresh coat of paint to give new
life to your bedroom space.
Consider painting an accent
wall behind your bed, choosing
a color that ties into other areas
of the room using accessories,
throw pillows or art.
To help reclaim your bedroom
as a place designed for sleep,
Joy Cho and Corey Damen
Jenkins, interior design experts
who work with Stearns & Foster
- a luxury mattress company
known for handcrafted style
and comfort - have identified
the following design tips and
Often, people assume they
need to start from scratch and
then feel overwhelmed while
making their bedroom seem
more inviting and cozy. Instead,
Cho encourages thinking about
color like layers - adding pops
of a varying shade in small areas
or using easily changeable
items. Start with a limited color
palette and utilize patterns to
add depth to your space.
“The proper color palette is
essential for creating the best
sleeping sanctuary,” states Corey
Damen Jenkins, the nationally
acclaimed interior designer
behind Corey Damen Jenkins &
Associates. “Certain color combinations
may seem amazing
in theory, but in application,
disrupt sleeping patterns. Everyone
is different, so it’s important
to know what works for
you.”
Make it personal
Decorate using objects with
stories to tell, such as heirlooms
passed down between generations
and items picked up from
travel or found at a vintage
market. “Pieces that are collected
and well-worn add meaning
and therefore end up looking
much more intentional and
thoughtful,” affirms Cho.
“Nightstands will always be
both in vogue and in need for
the bedroom,” says Damen
Jenkins. There are countless
options to match your personal
style and he encourages people
to “think beyond the box,”
especially in smaller spaces, as
unusual alternatives such as a
martini table can sometimes fit
a space better than a traditional
nightstand.
Cozy up in bed
While the right décor is important
for creating a cozy and
inviting space while you are
awake, both Damen Jenkins and
Cho encourage their clients to
invest in top-quality bedding
and mattresses to make the
biggest difference to your sleep
and comfort.
Both recommend high end,
handcrafted mattresses for an
upgraded sleep experience.
The certified Master Craftsmen
at Stearns & Foster design and
handcraft every mattress us
ing plush memory foam and
patented, supportive coils - all
wrapped in a navy blue velvet
border to provide the most
luxurious night’s sleep for years
to come.
Additionally, Cho recommends
soft textures for every layer
- from your mattress to your
duvet cover, comforter and
sheets. Cozy bedding looks
and feels luxurious, and when
paired with a high-quality mattress,
is both classic and made
to stand the test of time.
HOMEOWNERS SHOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE
REPAIRING AND INSTALLING A NEW ROOF
There are always those jobs
that take more chutzpah
than others, ones that
deserve more of a tip of the hat.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics just
disclosed the most dangerous
jobs in America, and not only did
roofers come at No. 6, but take
a look at some that didn’t even
make the top 10:
• Police officers
• Firefighters
• Taxi drivers
• Security guards
“Some of the results may surprise
you,” was how Bloomberg
Business understatedly put it.
We’ll reveal who did top the list
with more than three and a half
times the 36.26 fatalities, per
100,000 full-time employees, that
earned roofers their high-ranking
status. But here’s what those
deaths should tell all amateurs
who are thinking of tackling a
job as big as installing a roof
themselves: Don’t do it.
For those who insist on doing the
DIY thing, at least be sure to follow
these safety tips:
• Minimize your risk of slipping.
An average of six roofers die
each month in the U.S. from falls,
according to Professional Roofing
magazine. So never work on a wet
roof, wear soft-soled boots for
the best traction, and use safety
equipment like a harness when
working on a steeply pitched roof.
And if you do fall, pray that you
remembered to don a helmet to
protect your head.
• The 36-inch rule. Some of those
fatal falls resulted from having to
lug heavy material up a ladder.
Yours should extend 36 inches
above the landing or roof eave to
make transitioning to and from
the roof more secure. And this
warning from the Occupational
Safety and Health Administration:
“Do not stand on the three top
rungs.”
• Avoid electrical hazards. Roofers
also suffer fatal burns and
electrocution because electricity
can leap, or “arc,” from a wire to a
ladder several feet away. Thus, for
starters, make sure your ladder is
made of non-conductive wood or
fiberglass. Always cut away from
your body.
Having second thoughts?
Unless you’re Warren Buffett (who
still lives in the same modest,
five-bedroom house in Dundee,
Omaha, he bought for $31,500 in
1958), odds are your home is your
biggest asset. So GAF (gaf.com),
North America’s largest roofing
manufacturer, has made it easy
for you to find the most reputable,
dependable and adequately
insured professionals in your area
by searching its website’s GAF
Master Elite Contractor database.
And as for the most dangerous
job in America? Fisherman, with
131.52 fatalities per 100,000 fulltime
employees.
HOME REPAIR
IS IT SAFE TO REPAIR A
GARAGE DOOR YOURSELF?
Having a garage for a home is
something to embrace, given
the storage opportunities it
provides and the protection it offers
to the vehicles. Among the many elements
that make up this structure
are the doors that stop things like
unwanted intrusions and the impact
of the extreme weather. However,
at some point, you will need to
repair your garage often because
of wear and tear and unexpected
situations like unintentional accidents,
etc. What most homeowners
do is get their toolbox, and try to
fix the problem on their own when
there is an issue with the garage
door. It is the temptation which you
should avoid. The DIY tutorial on
YouTube or any other platform may
seem easy, but it is actually not that
easy. There are high chances that
you will damage your garage door
and also end up hurting yourself.
The best thing you can do to avoid
such daunting situations is to hire
a professional. You can find several
tutorials and instructions on the internet
that make garage door repair
seem like a piece of cake but it is
not a DIY repair you should pursue.
There are several reasons behind
this. Let’s have a look at them.
You Can Make It Worse.
The first reason to not try DIY
garage door repair is that you can
make the problem worse. When
your garage door needs repair,
you will not know how and where
to start. As you have never experienced
it, there are higher chances
that you will mess everything up,
and it will increase the risk of further
damage. Repairing the garage
door is not something that, with
zero knowledge and experience, can
pull off. So, it is better not to try any
DIY repairing and hire an expert and
avail the services of a garage door
repairman.
You Don’t Possess Professional
Knowledge.
It is one of the essential reasons
that compel you to avoid repairing
your garage yourself. There
is a possibility that you won’t be
able to diagnose the issue with the
garage door. It is because a garage
door system involves several
complex parts. Mostly, it isn’t easy
to understand which part needs
repair. Moreover, it is also hard to
determine which part is broken and
which is loose. You will waste both
your time and money if you replace
or fix the wrong part. However, you
can lessen the tension and stress by
contacting experienced garage door
installers.
Lacking the Right Tools
Repairing a garage door requires
specialized tools and equipment.
When you try to fix the garage
door with what you have, you risk
damaging the door and your tools.
Without proper tools and equipment,
it won’t be easy to repair a
garage door. It is one of the common
reasons why homeowners
end up worsening the damage and
spend more money than usual. The
modern garage doors need state of
the art tools which do not further
damage your garage door. Garage
12 THE ELITE HOME MAGAZINE

door repair itself is dangerous, but
you maximize the risk by repairing it
with the wrong tools.
Torsion Springs Are Dangerous
Most of the garage doors are either
extension or torsion systems. The
garage doors with the torsion system
are hazardous when it comes
to repairing the garage door. When
they are fully wound, they can cause
severe injury or sometimes even
death. There is high tension on the
torsion springs while closing them
all the way. If these springs become
loose during a repair, they can unload
with a tremendous amount of
force, which is dangerous.
Only professional garage door
installers can handle these. It is
better not to try the DIY garage door
repair and hire experts who have
experience and know-how to handle
the door and the springs carefully.
Besides, the experts take all the
precautionary measures which are
required while repairing a garage
door.
Falling Garage Door.
If not treated in the right way, a garage
door could be extremely risky.
You may end up hurting yourself
and others. When a garage door
falls on the ground, that underneath
cannot support the door’s weight.
If the door falls on a vehicle, it can
cause hundreds of dollars’ worth
of damage. Pets or children are not
protected when a garage door falls.
It is a significant risk to you, your
family, and your personal belongings
too.
You are helpless if a garage door
crashes on you or your precious car.
If you hire professionals, you minimize
the risk of injuries. The experts
have the tools and equipment which
are necessary to stop the garage
door from falling. It is a safer option
to hire an expert and avoid DIY
repairing.
Use of Wrong Parts
There is a possibility that you won’t
find the right or original parts of
the garage door. It is a significant
problem when you cannot find the
original part at a store. Not repairing
your garage door is better than
applying the wrong parts. It can also
increase the risk of further damage.
Moreover, there is a possibility
that you will spend more money on
buying the part which is not even
right for your garage door. The professionals
have an association with
reliable manufacturers and topnotch
stores. They will buy the right
parts which are necessary for your
garage door.
You Could Lose the Warranty
While buying a garage door, you
likely get a warranty for a specific
time. The warranty helps you pay
for the replacements and repairs if
something goes wrong before the
decided time has passed. When you
try DIY repairs on your garage door,
you lose the warranty you may have
had. It is because warranties do not
cover any modifications customers
make to the product after installing.
If you do not want to lose the
warranty, you should only let the
professional company work on your
garage door.
HOW TO REPAIR AND
PREVENT WOOD ROT ON A DECK
Easily one of wood’s worst enemies, moisture
contributes to mold growth, deterioration and
rot. For anyone who owns a deck, this is cause
for concern.
Regardless of the material used on a deck’s surface,
the majority of substructures today are built
with wood. If not properly protected, that wood can
show signs of splitting, rotting and decay in as little
as eight years, based on a survey of more than 100
builders.
How to Identify Wood Rot
• Look for discoloration or a spongy consistency
that flakes or falls apart when wet.
• Don’t forget to inspect the ledger board, where
the deck attaches to the house, as this is a common
source of deck failure.
• Use a screwdriver to check if you can easily penetrate
the wood or break off a sliver of wood
without splinters.
• Examine for long sheets of grayish mold or
darker-looking wood, along with spots or holes
caused by termites or other wood-eating pests.
When to Repair
If the damage is minor, you may
be able to address the problem
areas by following these steps for
DIY wood rot repair:
1. Remove Rotting Boards
Use a 5-in-1 rasp, chisel or
claw hammer to remove
rotted boards or rotting areas
of wood. Be careful not
to damage the surrounding
wood.
2. Reinforce Recessed
Areas
For boards that cannot be
easily replaced, use wood
hardener, filler or epoxy
to strengthen the affected
areas. If using a wood filler,
press it into recesses with a
putty knife and then shape
and smooth the filler to
make it aesthetically pleasing.
When to Replace
If the surface or substructure
are no longer structurally sound,
it’s time for a new deck. Even if
the foundation is solid and safe,
there may be other reasons
to consider replacing the deck
boards, such as:
• The costs of rot repair approach
the price of a new
deck.
• The aesthetics could use an
update. With a new deck,
there is opportunity to freshen
up everything from the
color and design to railings,
lighting and other architectural
accents.
• You’re tired of all the stripping,
sanding and staining a
wood deck requires and want
to switch to low-maintenance
composite decking.
Guard Against Future
Damage
If you replace the deck substructure
or boards, use the opportunity
to seal the joists, beams
and ledger boards with flashing
tape to shield them from water
damage. Deck flashing also acts
as a moisture barrier between
wood and galvanized metal and
helps deck screws and fasteners
hold longer and stronger for enhanced
structural integrity.
Designed specifically for use on
decks, Trex Protect is a self-adhesive
butyl tape that works on
horizontal and vertical surfaces
and is applied as a “cap” (vs.
wrapping), which allows wood
to breathe. The peel-and-stick application
is simple and requires
almost no trimming. Furthermore,
the butyl adhesive is super
sticky, yet pliable, which allows
it to create a tight seal around
fasteners to prevent water from
infiltrating screw holes. It doesn’t
dry out or curl up like other
construction tapes and performs
extremely well in a wide range of
temperatures.
protect a deck from moisture damage,
3. Stain And Seal
Once the new boards and
wood filler are in place, you
can stain the repaired areas
to match the rest of the
deck. Then, use a sealer to
protect the wood against
future moisture.
BATHROOM
BY BRANDPOINT
WELCOME NATURE INTO THE BATH FOR
AN ORGANIC, HARMONIOUS DESIGN
Architecture and interior
design often take
inspiration from the
environment. Whether it’s the
form of a structure inspired
by the outdoors or the incorporation
of native plants and
natural textiles, organic elements
make elegant designs.
Renowned architect Frank
Lloyd Wright’s famed vision is
rooted in the natural world.
Pay tribute to Wright’s enduring
legacy by incorporating
his values in design decisions
- from colors derived from the
field and woods to prioritizing
simplicity and sustainability in
the bath.
Organic Materials
Adopt a sophisticated, natural
space using principles of
organic architecture. Be intentional
with every material
and design choice to conceive
an environment that is functional
and balanced. Incorporate
organic materials such
as wood, concrete or metals
into a space for a harmonious
expression of nature. In
the bath, elements such as
lighting, wood accents, water
features, and fixtures with
sleek, minimal lines produce
a relaxing bathing experience.
Start with a neutral color palette
using colors such as sage
or tumbled stone for a subtle
backdrop. Then, layer more
color - such as pops of teal
and red - to integrate unique
touches that elevate a space,
while staying in tune with the
overall design.
Simplicity In Form
The true value of a design is
judged by its effortlessness
and repose. A blank canvas
allows for the chosen features
to shine and can create
tranquility within the bath. To
achieve simplicity, remove excess
and opt for minimalism.
Choose fixtures in the bath
that are purposeful and add to
the overall form of the space.
Finally, add touches of warmth
through soft lighting and materials
to brighten and balance
the design, keeping harmony
in mind.
Create Nature Indoors
Bring in elements of the environment
throughout the
home to fashion a continuous,
cohesive design. Establish a
landscape-inspired interior
by styling live greenery and
plants throughout.
Select fixtures that bring
together beautiful features
found in nature in a modernized
way, such as those from
the Frank Lloyd Wright® Bath
Collection by Brizo®. The collection
draws from his philosophy
of organic architecture
through elements such as
avant-garde water flow and
natural wood incorporated
into the design. The Raincan
Showerhead provides a luxurious
experience through the
distinctive rush of the Canopy
Spray, which activates a builtin
light by hydrogenator for
a dramatic effect - evoking a
sense of rainfall.
Sustainability In Design
Elect for green living wherever
possible. Intentionally select
renewable materials - such
as bamboo and cork - and
consider the environment at
every step, to build a long-lasting,
timeless abode. Choose
fixtures that are at the intersection
of sleek, clean design
and conscious sustainability.
Pick out WaterSense® Labeled
lavatory faucets, showerheads
and handshowers to ensure
a space that is both luxurious
and green. Take the time to
curate a sustainable home for
a transformative space that
exists in harmony with the
environment.
INEXPENSIVE HOME MAINTENANCE
PROJECTS TO DO THIS WEEKEND
Home maintenance. The very
words might evoke thoughts
of an entire weekend spent
laboring at home instead of relaxing
in it, but that doesn’t always have to
be the case.
“Not every home maintenance
project has to be a large
undertaking or one that takes up all
of your free time,” said Christopher
O’Rourke, Mercury Insurance vice
president of property claims. “There
are small weekend projects that can
save you time, worry and money in
the long run.”
Here are six home maintenance
projects you can do this weekend
that will save you the headache of
costly repairs later on.
Clean Refrigerator Coils
To keep your refrigerator properly
working, it’s best to clean the
coolant coils every six months.
Coolant coils, which can be located
on the back or bottom of the
refrigerator, keep warm air out.
When the coils are covered with
dust, dirt or hair they aren’t able to
release heat efficiently. In turn, the
coils work harder and longer, using
more energy and shortening the life
of the appliance. This might end up
costing you more in the form of a
higher energy bill or purchase of a
new refrigerator.
Clean your refrigerator coils with
a vacuum and coil cleaning brush.
Coil cleaning brushes can be found
at appliance stores or online for $10
or less.
Check Caulking
Caulking is customary around wet
areas like bathtubs and sinks to
keep water from seeping into the
wall, but it is also used around
windows and doors to prevent air
from escaping.
Check for significant air
temperature differences near
windows and walls and use a digital
thermometer to verify air leaks.
Make sure to also check areas
where vents and plumbing fixtures
meet the outside wall.
Old caulking can dry out and crack,
making it vulnerable to air and
water leaks. If you notice dry or
cracked caulking, remove as much
of it as possible and reseal. Caulking
gun sets that include the sealant,
scraping and smoothing tool can
begin at $35 and be found online or
at your local hardware store.
Examine The Roof
The first step of roof inspection is
to check the inside of your home.
Look for damp spots or water stains
on the ceiling or for cracked plaster
along the wall. These can be signs of
water damage.
At ground level do a visual
examination of your roof’s exterior
for any cracked or missing shingles.
Notice if you have to trim back tree
branches that may make contact
as they can damage your roof’s
exterior. If you suspect any type of
damage, contact an experienced
roofer who can perform a thorough
inspection.
Clean The Gutters
Gutters are necessary to direct
water away from your home’s
foundation. Their exposure to the
elements means that they need to
be cleaned and inspected regularly.
While cleaning out dirt and leaves,
make sure the gutters are securely
attached to your house. The weight
of heavy snowfall, rain and dirt can
cause gutters to loosen and pull
away from the home.
“Gutters that are free of dirt
and debris will keep rain from
running down the sides of your
home and coming in through
the foundation,” said O’Rourke.
“Routine maintenance means lower
homeowner costs by addressing
small issues before they become
problematic.”
Clean Chimney
Chimneys should be cleaned once
a year, especially before the first
fire of the season. Check the inside
of the chimney to make sure it is
clear of any debris or small animals
nesting as these types of blockages
could cause a fire. Thoroughly
clear away ash or soot around the
chimney before the cold weather
starts.
Install A Programmable
Thermostat
Programmable thermostats are
both a money and energy saver.
They allow you to set a comfortable
temperature when you’re home
and can be scheduled to lower the
temperature while you’re away,
helping you save money by cutting
down energy usage.
“Programmable thermostats allow
homeowners to set the heating
and cooling of their home to their
schedule,” said O’Rourke. “It’s one
less thing for homeowners to worry
about and they are fairly easy to
install.”
Your home is not only your
sanctuary, it’s your commitment.
Assessing your homeowners’
coverage and understanding your
policy is a simple household task
you can accomplish this weekend
and one that can save you money.
LAWN & GARDEN
BY NEWSUSA
SEE MORE GREEN WITH A DIY
AUTOMATIC LAWN SPRINKLER SYSTEM
If you like the idea of a lush,
green lawn and garden but
dread the thought of dragging
around a hose or sprinkler all
summer, then you may want to
consider installing an in-ground
sprinkler system.
While some systems can get
complex and difficult to install,
others are affordable do-it-yourself
projects.
Not convinced this is a DIY project
for you? According to Popular
Mechanics, today’s sprinkler
components are easier than ever
to assemble. A product like the
Rain Bird 32ETI Easy To Install Automatic
Sprinkler System, for instance,
retails for less than $199
at home improvement stores
and Internet retailers. It can be
easily installed in one afternoon
and doesn’t require tapping into
underground water lines.
“This new system offers do-ityourselfers
a more efficient,
automatic way to achieve a beautiful,
green lawn without having
to drag out a hose or remember
to move a sprinkler around,” says
Ray Peppiatt, marketing manager
of Rain Bird Consumer Products
Division.
The system efficiently waters an
area up to up to 3,000-squarefeet,
and conveniently sources
water from any outdoor hose
faucet.
As with any DIY project, the
heavy lifting is often in the planning.
To help, many manufacturers
provide installation video
tutorials and helpful tips on their
websites. In the case of the Rain
Bird 32ETI System, you get all
of the supplies necessary for
a simple five-step installation,
including distribution tubing, fittings,
an automatic timer and six
professional grade, high-efficiency,
pop-up rotary sprinklers.
“Now [homeowners] can spend
the weekend enjoying their yard
instead of worrying about watering
it,” says Peppiatt.
Keep in mind, experts say proper
watering is one of the most
important things you can do to
keep your lawn healthy. By doing
so, it can raise the value of your
home by as much as 14 percent.
Finally, to make sure the sprinkler
system doesn’t overwhelm
your water bill, be sure to find
one that comes with an automatic
timer. Simply program your
desired watering schedule for
any day of the week, as many
times as you’d like your lawn and
garden watered.
