TRADE CHRONICLE thJul - Aug - 2022Message from President Dr. Arif AlviOn the joyous occasion of the75th anniversary of Pakistan’sIndependence, I extendmy heartiest felicitations to thenation. This day reminds us ofthe innumerable sacrificesrendered by our FoundingFathers under the dynamicleadership of Quaid-e-AzamMuhammad Ali Jinnahfor carving this homeland“Pakistan” for us. Today, we alsoreaffirm our resolve to upholdPakistan’s ideology and make Pakistanan ideal modern Islamic welfarenation-state.This year, we are also celebrating theDiamond Jubilee of our independence, and in this regard, various ceremoniesare being organized across the countryto mark this propitious occasion. Theaim of these events is to educate andcreate awareness among our people, especially the Pakistani youth, aboutthe significance of national solidarity,Pakistan’s ideology and the FreedomMovement. I would like to commendthe efforts of all stakeholders inMessage from PM Shehbaz SharifThe 75th Independence Day isa watershed moment in ournation’s history. Today we payrich tributes to Muslims of the subcontinentand express our collectivegratitude to them for their heroicstruggle and epic sacrifices for creatinga new state. The establishment ofPakistan is an outcome of the Quaidi-Azam’ssingle-minded devotion, unflinching resolve and unwaveringstruggle. From the conception of anidea in 1930, Pakistan emerged on themap of the world as the largest Muslimcountry in a short span of 17 years. The coming of Pakistan into existencewas no less than a miracle that stunnedfriends and foes alike, beating allpredictions and assessments. Wherethe 75th Independence Day is anoccasion of jubilation and festivity, itis also a moment of reflection and selfaccountability. We, as a nation, haveachieved many milestones during thelast seven and a half decades. Fromthwarting external aggression toorganizing events tocommemorate thishistoric moment. On theoccasion of this Diamond Jubilee, thereis a dire need to assess our successesand failures. In our 75 years of history,we successfully overcame variouschallenges. We not only emergedas a nuclear power but alsodefeated the menace ofterrorism. In the recent past,we successfully managed theCOVID-19 pandemic. On this historic day, we payhomage to that personnel of ourArmed Forces and Law EnforcementAgencies who had laid their lives forthe defence, security and safety of ourmotherland. We also appreciate ourworkers, labourers, women, youth, thebusiness community, minorities andall those who have played their rolein the development and progress ofour country. Today's Pakistan is facingchallenges on economic and politicalfronts, but I strongly believe that ournation will overcome these challengeswith its proven commitment, determination, and patriotism as wellas with hard work, unity, discipline, putting together a federalconstitution to becoming the7th nuclear power of the worldto beating the scourge of terrorism, wehave come a long way. The odds weredefinitely heavier than anyone couldimagine, but our national will to defeatthem was stronger. At the same time, it is also a fact thatwe have not been able to realize thedream that our founding fathersdreamed fully; the dream of socioeconomicjustice, rule of and equalitybefore the law, and the dream of anegalitarian society. While we are anindependent nation, a precious giftfor which we cannot thank AllahAlmighty enough, true freedom lies inbeing free from want, hunger, povertyand backwardness. As long as wedo not have economic sovereignty, the concept of freedom will remainincomplete. Nothing is moredangerous for a nation than internaldivision; disruption and chaos, forsuch negative forces, undermine thesolidarity and integrity of the countryand rob societies of their nationalmutual harmony and solidarity. While celebrating Independence Day,we should not forget our oppressedbrothers and sisters in the IndianIllegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir(IIOJK). India has been committingegregious human rights violations inIIOJK for decades, and it has been threeyears since India unilaterally revokedArticle 370 and abolished Article 35Ato deprive IIOJK of its special legalstatus on August 5, 2019. I assureour Kashmiri brethren that Pakistanwill continue to extend all possiblepolitical, diplomatic and moralsupport to them in their legitimatestruggle for self-determination inaccordance with the UN Resolutions. In the end, I urge the entire nationto remain steadfast and workwholeheartedly for the developmentand progress of our country and theprosperity of our people. We need toremain united to overcome financial, economic and security challengesfaced by the country. Let us pledge thatwe will remain steadfast in renderingany sacrifice for the dignity and selfrespectof our people and the greatnessand glory of our beloved homeland.Insha’Allah!purpose. The Quaid-i-Azam warnedagainst such evils and gave us themotto of “unity, faith and discipline”as an antidote. The greatest strength ofour country is the people, particularlythe youth. It is their energy, resolve and passionthat is capable of overcoming anyodds, beating any hurdle and lightingthe candle of hope. We can push backthe divisive and nihilistic forces withthe power of the people and protectour freedom and identity. I have my fullfaith in their capabilities to chart a wayforward. While celebrating the 75thIndependence Day, let us seek guidancefrom the ideology and thoughts of ourfounding fathers and put the welfare ofour people at the center of our missionof national rejuvenation. Let us vowto turn Pakistan into a nation-statethat reflects the ideals of our foundingfathers. On the historic occasionof the 75th Independence Day, Icongratulate the people of Pakistan, including overseas Pakistanis. PakistanPaindabad!7
