RECIPES FOR AUTUMN FEASTS
I write this editor’s note under
the sober shadow of the
passing of our monarch. After
over 70 years on the throne,
our nation takes pause to
honour the memory of Queen
Elizabeth II.
The past few weeks have
held mourning, reflection and
celebration of a remarkable
life. Personally, I was a little
surprised by the truly profound
sense of loss I felt on her
passing. Conversations with
friends have revealed a similar
depth of feeling - I’m not sure
many of us realised what an
impact losing her would have
- a person who many of us
have never met, but who we
will miss as though we knew
her.

She has been in all our
lives, for all of our lives -
subconsciously there, each
and every day. She was
the face of our nation, an
inspirational and revered
figure across the world.
She led the country through
immense challenges, and is
perhaps the greatest female
role model to ever have lived.
How blessed we were to have
such a stoic figure on our
throne, so dedicated to public
service and to her people. We
loved her, and we are proud to
be represented by her.
When we get caught up with
the trivial moments of every
day life, moments of collective
grief and recollection can
bring us back to centre - to
reflect instead on what is
really important, help us
remember those we’ve lost
and to cherish the ones we
love even more.

everything.
