Fortuity Fine Bright BY JOHN MURO Now, just as the world wears out and night leaks into day, shadows sliding in silent trespass across a desolate landscape and a meager wind – day’s final wingbeat – settles under the eaves, hold close those bright astonishments that still beguile and bewilder and are sprinkled like rare tokens of hope throughout the world. Draw a certain comfort from those exquisite endearments and illusory fragments of dream-stuff that help to make our rush to ruin bearable; and then, for all that, tell me again, beneath the haze of woodsmoke and smudge of star light, how life will once again come to greenness and what form forgiveness takes.
