THE BOSS…
Appointed as Manager of Barnsley following the club’s relegation
from the Championship at the end of last term, Duff arrived at Oakwell
having spent the previous four seasons in charge at Cheltenham Town
– a club with whom he spent eight years as a player between 1996
and 2004.
Born in Belfast and capped 24 times by Northern Ireland, the central
defender who grew up in North Yorkshire spent time in the youth setup
at Darlington before his move to Gloucestershire. Making well over 300
appearances for the Robins, he moved to Burnley in 2004 and would go
onto help the club into the Premier League on two occasions.
Playing his final game for the Clarets and the final game of his career in
May 2016, Duff went into management with Cheltenham in September
2018 and helped the club to the League Two title in 2020/21 and a
subsequent return to the third tier after a 12-year absence.
