Deptford Literature Festival 2023 Programme

FESTIVAL STALLS & SIGNINGS
Books by Deptford Literature Festival writers and artists will be available to buy from The Word
bookshop (fiction, nonfiction and poetry for adults) and Round Table Books (children and young adult
titles).
Local publishers and literature organisations including Fitzcarraldo Editions and Arachne Press will
have stalls with titles to browse and buy.
Author Angela Catherine Cain will be selling and talking about her book Deptford Show Ground that
follows the fortunes of her great grandfather, a travelling showman, his wife and family who ran the
Deptford Show Ground from 1890, which stood on the site of Deptford Lounge until 1961.
Book signings by featured Festival authors will take place in the foyer of Deptford Lounge soon after
events have taken place. Books need to be purchased in advance of signings.
GIVING BACK
In recognition of the impact of the cost of living on many within our community, we are putting in
place the following for this year’s Festival:
A community mutual aid notice board in the foyer at Deptford Lounge, inviting people to buy a book
from one of the Festival booksellers, if they can, for people who cannot afford one.
A collection point for a local food bank. If you are in a position to donate, please watch out for the
list of items that are needed by the food bank on our social media in the run up to the Festival and
bring your donation to the Festival Hub at Deptford Lounge on the Festival day between 10am–5pm.
