As spring approaches, the Brigg Live Arts
calendar of events for the year is taking
shape with its usual interesting and exciting
range of activities. The committee has had
a ‘get together’ with some of the fantastic
team players and everyone is now full of
ideas, enthusiasm and looking forward to a
year of ‘Bringing the Enjoyment of the Arts
to Brigg’.

successful event last year. We are at
present establishing the lineup and would
welcome any suggestions – contact details
below. We are encouraging newly formed
bands as well as established bands too.

On Friday March 3rd we are presenting the Often Herd
Band. The Often Herd are one of the most engaging and
dynamic live acts in the UK’s Bluegrass, Americana, and
Roots scene. They will be playing at the Servicemen’s
Club in Brigg. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets at £8 can be
bought from Grandad’s Shed or the Rabbit Hole. This
event is sponsored by North Lincolnshire Live Lincs.
On Saturday May 20th we are privileged to host the G.
Gospel Choir from Hull which recently was runner up in
the BBC’s Songs of Praise Gospel Singers of the Year final.
It was also a finalist in 2019. Its amazing sound allows
the G Choir to perform a variety of songs both Gospel
and inspirational soul- stirring songs from Kirk Franklin
to Donald Lawrence, Hezekiah Walker to spirituals, Emeli
Sande and Cold Play! This will be held at St Mary’s
Catholic Church in Brigg.
On Friday July 21st we are
planning, subject to grant
applications and the event
application being successful, to
put on an outside performance
of Pride and Prejudice by the
professional IIIyria Theatre
Company. Discussions are
taking place in the hope that we
can use the grass area behind
the changing rooms at Brigg
Recreation Ground. This would
allow people to set up picnics
etc. On getting, hopefully, the
go ahead we will be sending out
further information on Facebook
and our BLA email list.
The North Lincolnshire Ukulele Group is a very
welcoming adult ukulele group which meets on
Thursdays during term time at Sir John Nelthorpe School
(Grammar School Road) from 4.30 – 5.30pm. The group
performs a wide repertoire spanning from the early
20 th century to modern day. There is no requirement to
already know how to play the ukulele; all abilities are
welcome. There is a small charge of £3 per week to join
in. Members perform at a wide range of events such
as charity concerts, parties, summer fetes, WI talks,
church groups, and care homes. We are always happy
to consider coming to perform at your event! For more
