Board chairLeslie grover2022 saw the world opening up again, but nothing was the same as before COVID-19. No one came into 2022 with100 per cent of their energy. Those of us with no first-hand experience of a cancer diagnosis had a tough time, butwe knew that the families we serve had it tenfold. To show up and show our care through practical support neverfelt more urgent, and boy did we get things done.We heard time and again of how the WCK meals, in the hospital and at home, lifted the burden and made life somuch more manageable. The meals met a practical need to eat, but they also provided a much-needed sense ofbeing held. One parent told us:“Getting hungry makes you more anxious and stressed, and not being hungry helps you think a little more clearly.What an impact it had to be able to eat a nourishing meal. Such a comfort.”Read about how all our other programs have also grown their impact in 2022 and provided connection, comfort,and care. Looking ahead, we will grow and scale the support and be sustainable without letting go of our heart-ledconnection to families; never losing that intimate understanding of people's experience. I’m always impressed atpeople’s generosity – with their giving, but also with their hearts. We treasure this the most – the generosity offamilies sharing.
