The Soma Institute Milestones Over the years, The Soma Institute has achieved a number of significant milestones 1998 The Soma Institute receives approval from the Illinois State Board of Education 2000 Soma is selected by the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon as the exclusive provider for the corporate team challenge program 2001 Soma’s Program Director is invited to work with Olympic athletes at the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah 2002 Soma establishes a clinical massage therapy externship for the Chicago Style Gymnastics Meet – the largest gymnastics event in the U.S. 2003 Soma is nationally accredited by ACCET (the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education & Training); Soma begins its clinical affiliation with Northwestern Memorial Hospital 2004 Soma’s Program Director is invited to work with Olympic Athletes at the Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece; Soma is approved to administer Federal Financial Aid 2005 Soma begins its clinical affiliation with Swedish Covenant Hospital 2007 Soma receives approval for its groundbreaking Master Clinical Massage Therapy Diploma Program and continues to expand job placement opportunities. 2009 Soma achieves a 96% placement rate, as reported to the Illinois State Board of Education.
