3 Kalbarri National Park<br />

Travel the coast road via Gregory to<br />

Kalbarri<br />

Features: Kalbarri is located at the mouth<br />

of the Murchison River. Kalbarri National<br />

Park covers an area of over 180,000ha<br />

and includes breathtaking coastal cliffs<br />

and dazzling wildflower viewing.<br />

4 Riverside Sanctuary<br />

Head east to the North West Coastal<br />

Highway, travel north for 12km and turn<br />

right into Coolcalalaya Road and follow<br />

for 5km<br />

Features: Visit Riverside Sanctuary to<br />

experience beautiful bush landscapes,<br />

spectacular seasonal wildflowers, dazzling<br />

night skies and knowledgeable guides.<br />

Take a guided wildflower tour on the<br />

farm in some of the 10,000 acres of<br />

remnant bushland and waterways.<br />

Bright Podolepis, Wooleen Station<br />

Flora: Carpets of everlastings, pompoms<br />

and other annual flowers can be seen in a<br />

variety of colours - white, pink, mauve and<br />

yellow. A spectacular array of Thriptomene,<br />

Grevilleas, Hakeas, Verticordia, Calytrix (star<br />

flowers) and many more can be seen from<br />

August. Kangaroo paws, Kalbarri catspaws,<br />

trigger plants, up to six varieties of Banksias,<br />

various flowering Eucalypts and the<br />

Murchison clawflower are commonly found.<br />

5 Shark Bay World Heritage Area<br />

– Denham and Monkey Mia<br />

Travel north on North West Coastal<br />

Highway and west on Shark Bay Road<br />

Features: For a chance to befriend<br />

enchanting bottlenose dolphins, a visit to<br />

Monkey Mia Reserve is a must. The dolphins<br />

are famous for their almost daily ritual of<br />

visiting the shore to interact with humans.<br />

Francois Peron National Park is a mere<br />

4km from Denham and offers rare and<br />

spectacular coastal scenery of red cliffs, blue<br />

water, white beaches and vivid wildflowers.<br />

The Peron Homestead can be accessed<br />

by 2WD and has an interpretative display<br />

in the old station overseer’s quarters, a<br />

self-guided walk trail, picnic facilities and a<br />

hot tub where visitors can soak in artesian<br />
