Child Care Quality Indicators Scale for Parents

This free tool and scale is provided for parents who are searching for high quality child care in their communities. It is based upon 50 years of research into the early childhood research literature in identifying key quality indicators drawn from licensing, rules, regulations, professional development, accreditation, quality rating and improvement systems, and other early care and education quality initiatives. It will provide parents with the keys to making decisions about the best child care for their children from infancy through preschool. Contact Dr Fiene to obtain a copy of the reliability and validity study completed on this scale. Also contact him if

you are interested in being trained on the scale and its use in your particular program. Some of the indicators

might need a bit of adjustment since this scale was developed in the Province of Saskatchewan and reflects their

specific standards in a couple of the indicators, especially #1 and #2. The other indicators #3 - #10 are very

generic and do not need any adjustments.
