Description
Jordon McCormick loved her father. In fact, he was loved and respected
by all who knew him. That's why it was so difficult for her when he was
gunned down in cold blood, because no one would do anything about it.
The only witnesses to the murder of Justin McCormick, were Kickapoo
braves, who heard the shots and got a look at the stranger who fired
them as he rode away. The only clue was the brand of the neighboring
ranch on the stranger's horse. The ranch of William Macon was almost as
large as the Bar J and even though there was no direct evidence against
Macon and the stranger was never found, Jordon suspected Macon was
ultimately behind it. Her suspicions grew as he offered to buy her out,
the first time before her father was even buried. Four years passed
without incident, then accidents started happening all over the ranch.
Little things at first, a fence down, cattle missing, corrals opened,
and horses let out, but then the accidents became more dangerous. And no
one believed they were accidents any longer. As the accidents are
escalating into intentional acts of violence, a stranger hires on at the
ranch. Lance Tanner proves himself capable and seems to all involved to
be earnest in his intent to help Jordan and the Bar J in any way
possible. Or was he? Jordon found she wasn't immune to Lance's good
looks and charm, but after the second attempt on her life, she had to
question his timing and his motives. Was he there to help those at the
Bar J or to help the person out to destroy it?
