SCARAB BITS<br />
The Ferny Road Diner hosted a /Roller Derby Car Wash on Saturday<br />
14th April. The event was a fundraiser for the <strong>Gold</strong> <strong>Coast</strong> Roller Derby. Also, on the day<br />
rockabilly band "Regular Gonzales" performed along with stalls selling car memorabilia<br />
and pin striper artists LB Guzzler and Stan Thompson.<br />
The day was a huge success despite patchy rain. Around a dozen SCARAB members<br />
attended with President Ron, Mike, John Henry, Sue and John staying most of the day.<br />
Sunday the 22nd April saw the SCARAB Club Run. As happens regularly, other events<br />
clashed including the very popular Carrara Swap, Show and Shine<br />
put on by the <strong>Gold</strong> <strong>Coast</strong> Restorers Association. This event has<br />
outgrown the venue at Carrara with entry restricted by 7.45am to<br />
show cars only with spectators having to park where they could.<br />
This year the weather was perfect with thousands of people<br />
attending, I counted around a dozen SCARAB members, but that<br />
number could have been more as everything was spread over a<br />
large area. We set up out chairs in a shady area under a large tree<br />
and watched the passing parade.<br />
