Fede coaching
success
The Limpsfield Club, Surrey, played host to
clinics with World Padel Tour coach Fede
Vives Ribas, coaching director at Royal
Padel Academy. Organised in conjunction
with iPadel, some 40 players took part,
training for 90 minutes with the pro on
specific elements of their game.
“We would like to thank The Limpsfield Club and iPadel
for the opportunity to work with the local padel players.
It was a huge pleasure to help develop their sports
education,” said Fede.
Ian Colligon, of iPadel, said it was a great chance for
players to improve their game: “Fede is an amazing
teacher and everyone went away having learnt new
skills and techniques. It was a really brilliant weekend
with participants travelling from other clubs to take
part. Given its success we really hope to do it again.”
Rawdon take the honours in mega match
Was this the biggest inter-club padel match in the UK to
date? Yorkshire’s padel tour de force Nicky Horn believes
so. Rawdon Tennis Club travelled to Harrogate to take on
Surge Padel on home turf. Surge’s newly opened facilities
have set the standard for padel facilities in the UK, with six
15 minutes
of fame
Two padel centres gained their 15 minutes
of fame after being featured on regional TV.
Padel United in Maldon started the ball rolling
with BBC Look East. Sports reporter Jonathan Park
spent several hours at the club talking to players
and watching the action, including Padel Panther
junior sessions. He interviewed club founder Richard
Smith, coach Jake Bewley and junior players Ben
and Lily, learning basic rules and finding out why
padel is the fastest growing sport in Europe.

taking the honours. “What a fantastic achievement just

Rawdon, worthy winners,” said Nicky.
Hot on Maldon’s heels was Game4Padel, which
had a visit from ITV Anglia sports correspondent
Donovan Blake to its newest padel facility and the
first court in Suffolk - a pop-up at Ipswich Sports
Club, which is planned as a ‘taster’ with hopes
to install four permanent courts at the club later
this year.
