FROM THEGAFFERTHE LIONS DENGood Afternoon andWelcome back to the NoriStadium following a coupleof nice trips to Glossop.I’d like to extend thewelcome to the visitingofficials, management andplayers of WythenshaweTown.Today's test is something alittle different as we comeup against a very goodWythenshawe side, onethat almost swappedplaces with us last season.Despite a few changes inpersonnel, today'sopponents lost just threetimes in last season'scampaign and with a newmanager, he will belooking to go one betterthan last season.Looking back on our lasttwo games, I was incrediblypleased with bothperformances for differentreasons.In both games I feel welooked comfortabledefensively and I thoughtthe first half in both gameswe were excellent, Tuesdayeven more so.How the game was 0-0 atHT on Tuesday eveningwas a little bit perplexing,on another day we couldhave been 3,4, maybeeven 5 up, but in thesemoments, we need tomake sure that we punishthe opponent, otherwisewe could end up findingourselves on the wrongend of these kinds ofresults, ala West Didsbury.Both goals we conceded inthe last two games camefrom little mistakes in thecentre of the park, but wehave a young side,mistakes will happen, butit’s my job, alongside Gerryand Vince to try and knockthe mistakes out of thelads.But, following Saturday'sgoal we conceded, webounced back and foughtuntil the end and thankfullyRyan was ready to get hisfirst goal of the season witha wonder-strike to get usthrough to the next round.The same can be said forTuesday's game, to go agoal down despite thedominance, it was great tosee just how they couldreact. It helps when youhave quality players withinthe squad who can comeon and make an impact tochange the game, and Ithink Blessing, James andMalick showed that whenthey came on.As I mentioned previously,today will be a differenttest for the lads as theycome up against a sidewith just a handful ofdefeats last season, but wewelcome Alex Doyle backfrom suspension, andhopefully Owen shouldmake a return following hisinjury.Enjoy the game.Paul Weller
