Fürst, DüsseldorfShowing things in a good (yellow) lightThe headquarters of the ARAG Insurance Group tower upalmost 125 meters above northern Düsseldorf, thus constitutingan iconic city landmark. Designed by Lord Norman Fosterand Düsseldorf-based architects RKW+ (Rhode KellermannWawrowsky), this building’s architecture has been much discussedsince it opened in 2001, and not only in the region. Itssize was not the only reason; other talking points were the shapeof its footprint, which is elliptic, and its eye-catching doubleglazing.Now Düsseldorf’s largest office block is even more striking.When the continuous façade drainage guttering and the lineargrating on top of it were both replaced as part of its forecourtrefurbishments the opportunity arose for integrating dramaticlighting. As with the guttering and the grating, the lightingwas supplied by TTC Technology/ADO Lights. The LED-Wall-Washer outdoor lighting is integrated into the façade gutteringover a length of 38 meters. The lights shine upwards, thus dramaticallyaccentuating the building’s entrance area – meaningthat the porch is elegantly illuminated from below – in the exactcolors of the company’s corporate design, with the warm yellowhues creating an inviting atmosphere and providing visitorswith a clear point of reference.©Pictures: TTC Timmler Technology/Photographer: B+E Fotografi28
