UNITED STATES NAVAL SEA CADET CORPSNAVY LEAGUE CADET CORPSTEAM Fort LauderdaleFort Lauderdale, FloridaWelcome to the twelfth edition of the Fort LauderdaleDivision Cruise Book. US Navy cruise books are unofficialpublications published by a ship’s crew to documenta cruise or deployment. The number of copies of acruise book is very limited. Creating these books is anold tradition in the Navy. This tradition dates to the late1800’s when the crews began documenting events oftheir cruises. A major difference compared to today’scruise books is that the early log books, as they werecalled, covered a period of up to two years which was thecommon period for a standard deployment. It is estimatedthat, by now, more than 10,000 different US Navy Cruisebooks have been published. Our sea cadet unit is a part ofthe United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC).Cadets (aged 10-13) and Sea Cadets (Age 13-18), isnamed for the USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD-28), a SanAntonio-class amphibious transport dock ship of theUnited States Navy. This ship was commissioned on July30, 2022 in Port Everglades, Florida.The purpose of this book is to help you recall all the finefriends and shipmates you have made in the Sea Cadets,and to provide you with a tangible record of our travelsand experiences. It will serve as a reminder of all youhave done in making our unit successful. This book isdedicated to the officers, staff, Cadets and families, whoseconscientious efforts, initiative and loyalty have made thisrecord possible.The Navy League, by request of the Navy, formallyestablished the Naval Sea Cadet Corps and Navy LeagueCadet Corps in 1958.
