Bermuda Equestrian FederationEQUESTRIAN CODY REGO ACHIEVESTOP PLACINGS2023 GREAT LAKES EQUESTRIAN FESTIVAL –18th – 23rd July 2023Bermuda’s Cody Rego continues to shine in USA competitionarenas and most recently achieved top placings at Week 3 ofthe 2023 Great Lakes Equestrian Festival held in Traverse City,Michigan. Riding the 9-year-old Zangersheide gelding DomingosJT Z, Cody captured first place in the TCHS Equestrian 3’6”/WECPremier Equitation Cup. This talented team went on to score94 points in the WIHS Hunter Phase thus claiming another 1stplace! Blaire Crews on Simply HenryAs of the 20th of July, Cody Rego continues to hold the toprankingspot for the Washington International Horse Show(WHIS). https://wihs.org/wihs-rankings/ The WIHS EQUITATIONCHAMPIONSHIP FINALS will be held from the 23rd – 29th October2023. Qualification for this prestigious FINALS is based upon twoleagues. Only the top 30 riders from the East Coast League and thetop 10 riders from the West Coast League are invited to competein the WIHS Equitation FINALS.In addition to qualifying for the aforementioned WIHS EquitationFINALS Cody, has qualified for two additional prestigious USAChampionships.The ASPCA MACLAY FINALS is considered the ultimateequitation class for junior riders and is one of the most covetedChampionships. Throughout the year, riders compete in specificMaclay equitation classes with the goal of qualifying to competein the FINALS. The 2023 ASPCA Maclay FINALS will be on the 4thand 5th of November at the National Horse Show, Kentucky HorsePark.The DOVER SADDLERY/USEF HUNT SEAT MEDAL FINAL comprisesmultiple rounds and is judged on equitation over a jumping courseset at 3’6”. Riders qualify for the FINALS by accumulating points inqualifying classes held throughout the competition season. TheFINALS will take place on the 15th of October at the PennsylvaniaNational Horse Show, USA.JUNIOR EQUESTRIAN TRAINING AND COMPETEOVERSEASSeveral Junior equestrians are, or will shortly be, attending Aiken,South Carolina to train with well-known clinician Wendy Arndt.Wendy is no stranger to Bermuda equestrians having regularlyvisited our Island to conduct clinics. Thus, the summer holidayprovides an ideal opportunity for Bermuda equestrians to gainadditional training as well as experience competing in USAEquestrian events.Recently summer students were given the opportunity to competein Tyron Summer Series held at the beautiful Tryon InternationalEquestrian Centre. In addition to gaining value show experience,our riders also collected a few rosettes.The BEF is delighted to share that young Blaire Crews, ridingSimply Henry claimed 1st place in the 11 years & under EquitationFlat Class as well as a 4th place in the Equitation Over Fences 2’2”division. Riding Cavalli in the 2’3” jumping class, Blaire collectedanother 4th place. In the older age division, Tyler James ridingCasual Z placed 2nd in the 1.10 m jumping classes whilst CooperWhite riding his own horse, Cupido, claimed 4th place in theChildren’s Jumper 1.10.
