kaschkasch, how would you describe your
design philosophy?
SEBASTIAN SCHNEIDER: I’d describe our way
of working as targeted teamwork: we approach
things with a sense of curiosity and discuss
our designs quite intensely with one another,
their aesthetics, their functionality, how userfriendly
are they and how can we position them
on the market. And if we ever get stuck, we
just try things, which is where our background
in craftsmanship comes in handy. A product
isn’t finished until both of us are one hundred
percent convinced.
What does Small Living mean to you?
With its high-quality design and extreme
flexibility, our STAPELLIEGE is a convincing
piece of furniture. Our colour range plays a key
role here and was developed exclusively for
Müller Small Living by design duo kaschkasch,
based in Cologne. The concept offers 20
different colours that complement one another
to create four different colour schemes.
The different colour schemes within the Müller
collection comprise shades that range from
dark bolds to light pastels. And to top it all:
each shade can be combined with the others
in virtually every possible way, an interplay that
creates colour combinations and gradations in
perfect harmony. It’s hard to get more timeless
than that!

FLORIAN KALLUS: As we both live and work
in the city, Small Living is an issue that is very
present for both of us. We use the space in our
studio very efficiently, as well. I think in the
best case, good solutions for small spaces are
universal and can enhance our lives considerably.
What do you do to conserve as many resources
as possible in your own lives?
FLORIAN KALLUS: My personal maxim is “Buy
better, not more”. In other words, I would always
go for a high-quality product that might be more
expensive but will also last much longer and, in
the best case, make me a lot happier.
SEBASTIAN SCHNEIDER: I ride my bike whenever
possible. It’s a start.
