Great minds create Creativity is a powerful mindset. It’s a key to finding solutions. It’s a beautiful and playful part of being human—and of being a Whittie. Whitman visual artists, musicians, dancers, actors and writers explore their passions and hone their skills through courses and ensembles led by practicing faculty artists—not to mention the many on-campus clubs, events and workshops that bring creative flair to everyday life on campus. So many creative opportunities await you here. Here’s a beautiful thing: You don’t have to major in the arts at Whitman to take classes and express your creative side. Maybe you’ll take a painting class for fun or modern dance to move your body and soothe your brain. Unique @ Whitman President’s Scholarships Whitman offers talent-based scholarships in music, theater arts, fine arts and debate. These scholarships are open to all majors. CREATIVE SPACES Where the magic happens Fouts Center for Visual Arts: Houses studios and classrooms for digital arts, sculpture, painting, drawing, ceramics, printmaking, photography and book arts. Fouts fun fact: Each senior art major gets their own studio space. Harper Joy Theatre: In this historic space, you’ll find multiple performance and teaching stages, plus a dedicated costume shop. Generations of Whitties have learned to use the stage to entertain and influence the world. Dance Studio: Courses are also available in modern dance and ballet, with visiting artists bringing additional cultural styles each semester. Hunter Conservatory: Home to Whitman’s Film and Media Studies program and a beautiful auditorium for performances of all kinds. Hall of Music: Whitman’s renowned Music program includes seven different tracks from jazz to theory to tech and production.
