DISPOSABLE GLOVES - POLY
Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act)
The FD&C Act is a set of laws passed by Congress in 1938 giving authority to the U.S. Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) to oversee the safety of food, drugs, and cosmetics. All
Safety Zone glove components comply with the provisions of the FD&C Act, which allow
repeated use in direct contact with food.
FDA Rule 110.10 & 177.1950
Rule 110.10 Nitrile gloves sold by The Safety Zone meet the requirements
for handling of human food in both the manufacturing and packaging
phases of production.
Rule 177.1950 Nitrile gloves sold by The Safety Zone contain chlorideethylene
co-polymers, which may be safely used for repeated use when coming into
contact with food.
It is important to note that polyethylene gloves are not suitable for high-risk or medical
procedures that require sterile conditions or protection against hazardous substances. In
those cases, specialized gloves made of different materials may be required. Here are some
common uses of disposable poly gloves:
Food Handling: Polyethylene gloves are frequently used in food preparation and handling to
maintain hygiene and prevent cross-contamination. They are suitable for tasks such as food
assembly, packaging, and handling raw ingredients.
Beauty and Salon Services: In beauty salons and spas, polyethylene gloves are used during
various treatments like hair coloring, perming, and applying chemical-based products. They help
protect the hands of beauticians and clients from direct contact with potentially irritating or
staining substances.
General Household Tasks: Polyethylene gloves are commonly used for various household tasks
like cleaning, gardening, pet care, and handling messy substances, such as paint or adhesives.
Veterinary Clinics: Veterinarians and animal care professionals use disposable polyethylene
gloves when examining and treating animals. These gloves help maintain cleanliness, prevent the
spread of pathogens, and protect against potential allergic reactions.
