Cincinnati Art Galleries, LLC Henry Farny (1847-1916) Along the Creek (At the River), 1902 Gouache 11 3/4 x 8 1/2 inches Signed Lower Right Price on Request Provenance: Henry F. Farny, 1902 Harry S. Leyman, acquired from above, then by descent through the family Harry S. Leyman was a successful businessman in Cincinnati, Ohio. He knew Farny personally and was an avid collector of Farny’s work. Early newspaper accounts in Cincinnati mention Mr. Leyman and his success in collecting Farny’s work. The Leyman family later donated several significant paintings by Farny to the Cincinnati Art Museum. 14 Exhibition History: This painting has been closely held by the family and rarely exhibited. In 1943, the Cincinnati Art Museum had a major retrospective exhibition of Farny’s paintings. Along the Creek was included in that exhibition.
