Background<br />

Buchu is a small shrub like plant which is found in parts of South Africa. The dried<br />

leaves are used medicinally and collected when the plant is in flower or during<br />

fruiting. They have a strong aromatic taste and peppermint like odour.<br />

The volatile oils in Buchu are responsible for helping deal with and prevent urinary<br />

tract infections such as cystitis, urethritis and prostatitis.<br />

• Anti-lithic<br />

Buchu, especially in combination with other herbal remedies will help prevent and<br />

treat problems associated with the build up of gravel and stones in the bladder<br />

(urolithiasis).<br />
