02 Annual Review 2022/23 In our 2021–25 strategy, Thriving
Somerset Communities, we set
ourselves an ambitious goal of adding
£3 million to our endowment to help
build sustainable, long-term funding
for our communities. So far, we’ve
secured almost £1.2 million of new
endowment donations – 40% of the
way there. At the end of the financial
year our endowment was worth
£7.7 million.

It’s also vital for us that we raise more
flexible and unrestricted funds so we
can provide more flexible, long-term
and unrestricted funding for the
groups we support. That’s why we’re
creating our Collective Giving Funds: a
unique and powerful way for donors to
come together to drive social change in
Somerset. Our aim is to provide simple,
rewarding and impactful ways for
everyone in Somerset to give locally –
regardless of how much they want to
give. You can read more about these
on pages 6 & 7.
Finally, we’re also delighted to
have been able to make increased
investment in our Philanthropy team,
welcoming Fiona Foster as our new
Philanthropy Manager. Fiona will
help us inspire more local giving
through SCF, help strengthen our
own organisational sustainability, and
– crucially – increase funding for our
communities.
