40 business news FUYAO GLASS 2009 profit quadruples An announcement from Fuyao Glass Industry Group Co. Ltd. on 10 March 2010 said that its net profit for 2009 reached RMB 1.12 billion, 4.54 times the amount realized in 2008. Earnings per share for the same period were RMB 0.56 and a dividend of RMB 0.17 per share will be paid. In 2009, the Shanghai-listed manufacturer of automotive, decorative and industrial glass under the brand name of FY, reported operating revenue of RMB 6.08 billion, an increase of 6.34% year on year and exceeding the original goal by 12.23%. According to the statement, the profit was boosted by strong automotive glass sales, as well as other factors. STEINEMANN COATING transfer completed; production improved The transfer from Fleischle to Steinemann Coating has now been successfully completed and production has been significantly improved not only by moving to new and larger premises but also due to the flexibility and efficiency of the new management crew. All processes are supported by Steinemann AG, the mother company based in St. Gallen, Switzerland. Sales to Dubai and Egypt of two SH-series Fleischle printing machines, with the option of an additional screen cleaning system, have been settled successfully. Steinemann Coating technicians and IT-specialists are able to detect and solve the production resources within client printing lines by improving the operational sequences of the processes in terms of cycle times and speed of transport. Steinemann Coating offers an automatic screen cleaning system as an optional feature for all its SH-series, to remove ink sediments that remain in the screen mesh especially on fullcover-prints, special designs and printing on glass panes with drillings or cutouts. These sediments are normally cleaned by hand or by dry printing on manually input glass panes or PVC-plates. This, says the company, increases the production up to 60% while required manpower is reduced. HNGIL double capacity at Halol Hindustan National Glass & Industries Ltd. (HNGIL), India’s leading container glass manufacturer, with a 65% market share, which entered the float glass segment in January 2010 with its plant at Halol near Vadodara, is reportedly aiming at doubling its production capacity with the addition of another 800 tonnes per day (tpd) line in the near future. The company aims at having a 25% share of all India float glass production within the next two years. The Halol 600 tpd float glass plant, was set up with an investment of INR 600 crore. “We have kept provision to add another 800 tpd line at the plant. Currently, we have started one furnace, but would work on the second line soon depending on market demand,” informed Mukul Somany, joint managing director of HNGIL. “The float glass industry has seen explosive growth in the last three months, growing at around 20%, buoyed by demand for both architectural and automotive glass. We will start automotive glass production at the Halol facility from April onwards, and for starters, nearly 20-25% of the net production would be for automotive glass,” Somany explained. HNG, which has a production capacity of 2,800 tpd in container glass bottles, is also searching for potential overseas acquisitions to further strengthen its container glass portfolio. Somany said, “We have zeroed in on two possible units, one worth INR 250 crore, another around INR 500 crore in South East Asia and the Middle East. We can expect a deal to come through in the next three to five months. Both the companies are in the container glass segment.”
