“ W e a r e b o t h
Catholic, so keeping
the wedding very
centered around God
and holy matrimony
as a sacrament was
incredibly important
to us. We wanted an
authentically Catholic
ceremony filled
with all the traditional
elements. We also
wanted our guests
to feel how beautiful
the gift of marriage
is,” Allison said. “The
second main element
Seth and I wanted
was to make sure the
reception was fun for
everyone and that our
guests could dance,
celebrate, and get to
know each other.”
They were married
in the church that Allison grew up attending —
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and they were
wed on Aug. 4. They made sure to make it special
for Seth as well by including someone from
his past.
“I had gone to church at St. Joseph’s
throughout my childhood, and then we had one
of Seth’s family friends, Father
Joshua Bennett, who
came from Indiana to celebrate
the ceremony for us,”
Allison said. “It was really
sweet that we had something
special from both
sides there.”
The traditions of a Catholic
wedding ceremony were important
to the couple.
“The songs and readings
always impact the arrangement
of a Catholic wedding.
A highlight for us was the
homily from Father Bennett
which emphasized how
much of a blessing marriage
is”,” Allison said. ““We
chose the traditional Catholic
vows because they have been the same
ones used for a long time and that was really
special to us.”
Another traditional thing that took place during
the ceremony was the first look.
“We didn’t see each other before the ceremony
and did the traditional first look when
I was walking down the aisle,” Allison said. “It
was so emotional, but it was really good. I’m really
happy that we ended up doing it like that. It
was special.”
Allison wore an A-line crepe gown while the
groom and his eight groomsmen wore black
suits and black ties. The bridesmaids kept it
classic with floor length black dresses.
“We wanted to keep it classy and also very
