Half (50%) of H<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>panics w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h they were 21 to 30, compared to 34% of whites and 29% of African<br />

Americans who w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h that. Whites (13%) are nearly twice as likely as African Americans (7%) to w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h<br />

they were between the ages of 41 and 50, while African Americans (12%) are twice as likely as whites<br />

to w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h (6%) they were between 51 and 60.<br />

Independents (44%) are the m ost likely to w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h they were 21 to 30, while Democrats and Republicans<br />

(12% each) are more likely than independents to w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h they were 41 to 50.<br />

Westerners (42%) are the m ost likely to w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h th ey were between 21 and 30, while southerners (16%)<br />

are the m ost likely to w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h they were less than 21. Easterners (20%) are slightly m ore likely than the<br />

other regi<strong>on</strong>s to w<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>h they were between the ages of 31 and 40.<br />

These questi<strong>on</strong>s were included in a nati<strong>on</strong>al teleph<strong>on</strong>e survey of likely voters co nducted by Zogby<br />

Internati<strong>on</strong>al June 20 through June 22, 2005. The target sample <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> 1,000 interviews with approximately<br />

55 questi<strong>on</strong>s asked. Samples are random ly dr awn fr om teleph<strong>on</strong>e l<str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g>ts. Zogby Internati<strong>on</strong>al surveys<br />

employ sampling strategies in which selecti<strong>on</strong> proba bilities are proporti<strong>on</strong>al to populati<strong>on</strong> size within<br />

area codes and exchanges. Weighting by regi<strong>on</strong>, party, age, race, religi<strong>on</strong>, and gender <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> used to adjust<br />

for n<strong>on</strong>-resp<strong>on</strong>se. The margin of error <str<strong>on</strong>g>is</str<strong>on</strong>g> +/- 3.2 percentage points. Zogby Internati<strong>on</strong>al’s sampling and<br />

weighting procedures also have been validated through its political polling: m ore than 95% of the<br />

firm’s polls have come within 1% of actual electi<strong>on</strong>-day outcomes.<br />
