“Justin was a great leader
up front and wanted
the offensive line to be
the strength of the team,”
Hughes said. “He loved to
practice and brought great
effort every day. He played
well in every game and
earned all of his opportunities
and awards.”
Powell (5’11”, 175
lbs.) had 41 receptions
for 1,231 yards, the second
highest yardage total
in Snow College history.
Blessed with explosive
speed, Powell led the nation
with 30.0 yards per reception
and was third nationally
with 14 touchdowns.
An all-around athlete,
Powell was named the Ohio
Division II high school
basketball player of the
year in 2011 while at Toledo’s
Rogers High School.
Powell will be a Hawkeye
next year, having accepted
a scholarship offer from the
University of Iowa.
“Damond is the most
explosive receiver we have
had in my time at Snow,”
Hughes said. “He was capable
of making a big play
every time he touched the
ball and he usually did
make the big play. I have
loved watching him grow

at Snow.”
Miller (6’2”, 240 lbs.)
recorded 39 tackles this
season from his defensive
end position. Miller had 13
sacks individually, second
most nationally. He was in
on 19 tackles for loss and
recorded two safeties for
the Badgers, who led the
nation as a team with eight
safeties.
Miller was named defensive
MVP in this year’s
Carrier Dome Bowl.
“I love to coach guys
like Jake,” Hughes said.
“He’s a blue-collar guy.
He’s a great student in the
classroom and he would
do anything for the team.
Plus, he was very productive
and had an outstanding
season.”
Van Orden (6’1”, 196
lbs.) was second in the
nation in punting with an
average of 40.8 yards per
kick. With Snow’s explosive
offense, many of Van
Orden’s punts this season

in the opponent’s territory.
Fourteen of his 41 punts
pinned opponents inside
their own 20-yard line,
making Van Orden a key
part in the record-setting
eight safeties recorded by
the Badgers defense this
season.
Along with Hautau,
Van Orden is the second
player who prepped at East
High School in Salt Lake
City to be named to the
All-America team.
“Chris was a huge
part of our team’s success,”
Hughes said. “He
controlled field position
for us by pinning our opponent
inside their 10-yard
line multiple times and also
made some clutch punts to

really needed it.”

the season ranked No. 3 in

poll with an 11-1 record and
was the undefeated champion
of the Western States
Football League at 8-0.
The Badgers secured
the league title with a 40-
Western Matadors in
Yuma, Ariz. The Badgers
closed out their season
with a commanding 47-
