The annual pre-Bean Day banquet is set for Jan.
25 at the Fargo, N.D., Holiday Inn. You must call
the Northarvest Bean Growers Association office

Tickets are $15
per person
payable at the
door.
The event
starts at 5 p.m.
Commercial
exhibits and a
cash bar will be
open. The banquet
follows at 7
p.m. The menu
includes steak
and walleye,
baked potato, green beans almondine, tossed
crisp green salad and deluxe ice cream sundae.
Ventriloquist Gregg Claassen, and his “mouthy
alter egos” will perform following the banquet. His
program is referred to as one of the most unique
in the country. He has performed at Silver Dollar
City in Branson, Mo., and is a featured speaker for
the Associated Clubs, an international dinner club

Election Districts
Help direct research -- complete production
survey at Bean Day
A grower survey of production problems and practices
will be conducted during Bean Day. The survey used
to be mailed to a sample of dry bean growers.
The survey questions include the number of dry
bean acres you planted in 2000, the acres of each variety
planted, the seed sources used, the worst production
problems encountered (includes weather,
weeds, disease, insects, etc.) crop rotations used,
micronutrients used, pesticides used and acres
treated.
This information helps determine the research
needs of the dry bean industry, says Art Lamey, North
Dakota State University extension plant pathologist
who conducts the study.“Your input in this survey is
needed and will help research and extension faculty
of both Minnesota and North Dakota, as well as the

Northarvest district elections set for Bean Day
Elections are to be held for posts on the
Northarvest Bean Growers Association board for
the following districts:
District 2 -- Gary Paur, Gilby, N.D., is the current
director.
District 5 -- Gary Friskop, Wahpeton, N.D., is
the current director.
District 8 -- Mark Streed, Milan, Minn., is the
current director.
All are eligible for re-election.
