A true outdoor adventure can never be more fulfilling
than when camping - it significantly heightens the real
outdoor experience and is always great fun! Young people
enjoy the unique experience which is so different from the
comfort of their home and it also helps them take more
responsibility for themselves. For Party Leaders it is a
relaxed (and surprisingly easy to monitor) environment.
To make camping particularly suitable for our groups we
have created the unique concept of the Acorn Village.
Enhancing community spirit and improving security
The Acorn Village is one of the main reasons behind the success. The Village provides you with,
above all, a secure environment. Our welcoming, comfortable and self-contained villages typically
consist of around 16 tents facing in to a village ‘square’ and an exclusive marquee for meeting and
eating. The village provides for a comforting setting - easy to monitor and control as you can always see
all your tents from any point in the village. However, it is also perfectly designed to assist groups to
develop quickly strong sense of community and team spirit, as repeatedly testified by our guests.
Our comfortable tents
Our tents are fire-retardant PVC with solid flooring and sprung beds
with mattresses. Party Leaders have their own tents with few extra
comforts including inner tents for extra privacy.

At our Royal Oak centre accommodation is provided in purpose-built
cabins sleeping ten or twelve in two or four berth rooms, some include
small lounge areas. Meals are taken in an indoor dining room. Party Leaders
are accommodated in en-suite cabins with a lounge area and hot drink
making facilities.
Your Exclusive Acorn Village
Groups of 40 or more full paying people are always guaranteed exclusive use of
their Village. This means that they have sole use and control of their accommodation.
Our villages usually take 48 guests at a time, but can be expanded to accept up to 80.
Security and Safety of your village
One of the main strengths of the Acorn Village is the level
of security and safety it provides
Secure accommodation – your Village is well marked
and isolated from everyone other than your group and our staff
High adult to children ratio – there is a ratio of
approximately one adult to every four children at our centres
Night-time assistance – a member of staff is always
on duty throughout the night
Constant staff presence – staff members live on the
centre and are trained to be vigilant at all times
Constant lighting – the marquee is lit throughout the night
and other lights are placed strategically around the centre
REMEMBER: No one other than a member of your group or a
member of our staff is allowed on your Village. This is a simple
rule that makes it very easy to monitor security on the Village
compared to hotels, hostels or other camping centres.

Healthy eating
Our daily menus are planned to be both tasty and nutritious and
include “5 a day” guidelines. We serve a wide variety of meals
from traditional favourites to local specialities, all prepared on
centre, using healthy cooking methods and served to you in
your village marquee. These menus are designed to provide you
with all the fuel you will need for your busy activity programme.
Special dietary requirements are of course catered for – please
advise us of any special requirements at the time of booking.
