A meek and simple-minded boarding school teacher falls in love with
a prostitute and consequently is fired from his post. He tries in vain
to get her to change her life, but she can’t be convinced. When she
finally realizes he really loves her, it is too late.

Mario, a young student from an aristocratic family, falls in love and has
an affair with Lulù, a young cabaret singer. Despite the objections of his
parents and Lulù’s dubious past, his naive faith in true love convinces
him to marry Lulù and raise their unborn child. Mario carries on with his
studies and lives a quiet life with Lulù. But Lulù soon finds this solitary life
unbearable and begins an affair.

Two strange fellows have stolen a car. While they are driving through a
little village they are requested to give sick Mary a lift. One of the two
fellows is to be her cousin coming from Australia. The other friend falls
in love with Maria. Maria at the beginning agrees to stay with him. But
she comes to know that the car has been stolen to her real cousin.
