Technical data Jumbo SHS Specification • Heat treated after forming • Fine grain structure • Uniform mechanical properties • Negligible stress Corus Tubes in association with Nakajima Steel Pipe Company can supply large square, rectangular and circular hot finished structural hollow sections (Nakajima Super Hot Columns). All sections are supplied with an inspection certificate in accordance with JIS G 0303 and JIS G 3136 in English. Jumbo hot finished square hollow sections in sizes from 350 mm to 550 mm square with thickness < 25 mm are produced from hot rolled coil and welded by the electric resistance weld (ERW) process. Sections with thickness ≥ 25 mm are produced by pressing and roll forming hot rolled plate and welded by the submerged arc welded (SAW) process. SAW sizes are manufactured from either a single plate and have one longitudinal weld or from two plates and will have two longitudinal welds. Refer to tables for which applies. Jumbo hot finished rectangular hollow sections are produced by pressing and roll forming hot rolled plate by the submerged arc welded (SAW) process in sizes from 500 x 300 mm to 750 x 500 mm. Sections are manufactured from two plates and will have two longitudinal welds on the short faces. Jumbo hot finished circular hollow sections are produced by pressing and roll forming hot rolled plate by the submerged arc welded (SAW) process in sizes from 457 mm up to and including 711 mm outside diameter. These sections are manufactured from a single plate and have one longitudinal weld. All sections are supplied to a modified SN490 B grade to JIS G 3136. The standard yield strength is 355 N/mm 2 and standard Charpy impact minimum average energy value is 27J at –20°C. This grade corresponds to EN 10210 S355J2H. Other grades are available on request. Sections produced by the electric resistance weld (ERW) process are not subjected to ultrasonic testing of the weld line. Additional testing and acceptance criteria are subject to agreement at the time of order. Sections produced by the submerged arc welded (SAW) process have 500 mm of weld line at both ends and a 500 mm portion of central weld line ultrasonically tested. Acceptance criteria and additional testing are subject to agreement at the time of order. Designation Jumbo hot finished hollow sections are designated by their outside dimensions and thickness in millimetres and the material grade.
