145 (ISRAEL, LAND OF). A group of circa 40 printed and manuscript<br />
documents, letters and ephemera from the 19th and 20th centuries<br />
pertaining to various organizations, events and personalities in<br />
the Holy Land. Includes: A folded four page broadside entitled<br />
“Hetek Hakdamath Ha-Pinkas Asher Le-Chevrath Ezrath Yisrael”,<br />
Jerusalem, circa 1874. Unknown to Shoshana Halevy, but see no.<br />
218 , Machbereth Ezrath Yisrael. The purpose of this organization<br />
was to establish co-operation betwen all of the residents of<br />
Jerusalem - Ashkenazim, Chassidim and Perushim. * Two copies<br />
of a rare folded four page broadside entitled “Kol Midaber”, to<br />
the Jews in Europe stating that donations sent to the Holy Land<br />
via the Commitee in Amsterdam administered by Lehren is the<br />
only reliable method to ensure that monies will be distributed<br />
in an equitable manner. Endorsed by the Sephardic, Ashkenazic<br />
and Chassidic Rabbis of Jerusalem, Chevron, Safed and Tiberias.<br />

respectively, to Rabbi A. Hildesheimer in Berlin and Rabbi E.<br />
Guttmacher in Graz. Both are slightly defective but together, the<br />

de Rothschild, Sir Herbert Samuel, N. Sokolov and others<br />
dated 1914. * Colorful New Year’s greetings from Kolel Minsk<br />

issued by the Keren Ha-Yesod. * Mimeographed announcement<br />
dated 1924, protestng administration concerning elections to<br />
Histadruth. * Printed broadside concerning Poalei Zion, 1932.<br />

❧ The 1949 Armistice Agreements were individually<br />
negotiated and signed between the State of Israel and<br />
neighboring Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and Syria. The<br />
agreements ended the offi cial hostilities of the 1948 Arab-<br />
Israeli War. The United Nations subsequently established<br />
supervising and reporting agencies to monitor the established<br />
armistice lines. Despite tensions and occasional violent<br />
outbursts, these lines held until the 1967 Six-Day War.<br />
A full set of these rare documents are most scarce.<br />
