Biometrics Ltd offers a technologically advanced yet cost effective range of EMG display & data capture
systems offering both fully portable and real time display & analysis options.
The SX230 Active EMG Sensor
The SX230 is a pre amplifier designed and
manufactured by Biometrics and has been
developed with ease of use and superb
quality of signal in mind. Unique to the
design is the Input Impedance of
10,000,000 M Ohms. What this means
in practise is that little or no skin
preparation and no gels or creams are
required, yet the quality of the signal
recorded is absolutely superb for both
static and dynamic applications.
Simply apply the electrodes over the body of
the small or large muscles being measured
using the die cut medical grade double sided
adhesive tape (part no. T350).
Independent of the number of active EMG
sensors being used at any one time only one
ground reference cable is required.
The ground reference cable R200 comes
complete with a convenient elastic wrist band
for ease of use.
The ground reference cable R300 comes with
a standard 2 mm spring plug for connection
to proprietary disposable electrodes with a 2
mm spring socket
Taking EMG measurements
The SX230 may readily connect to either the
DataLINK or DataLOG. Both these instruments
are general purpose data collection devices and
may collect signals from a wide range of
sensors simultaneously with the EMG. This is
ideal for correlation of muscle activity with other
physiological parameters.
normal subject. Note this trace is raw data and
NO filtering has been applied to reduce
artefacts. Data collected using DataLINK,
active EMG sensor SX230 and hand
dynamometer G100.
EMG & the DataLOG
The DataLOG offers the user the ability to
collect EMG and other data reliably from up
to 8 channels simultaneously in a truly
portable configuration. The capability offered
the user of EMG measurements using the
DataLOG is unrivalled even by much more
costly systems.
EMG & the DataLINK.
The DataLINK provides the user the ability to
collect EMG and other data simultaneously
with real time display & real time analysis.
The usefulness and simplicity of this accurate
display & real time feedback is emphasized
for both a research and educational setting.
Graph Key
The Graph Key window controls the
traces that are to be displayed and
the units to use on the Y-axis.
Display & Analysis of the EMG data Analysis Software for
DataLOG & DataLINK.
Results Key
The Results window displays
information about the traces within
the current active display window
whether nor not they are currently
visible.
The NEW V3.0 Biometrics Analysis software is one of the most powerful
yet cost effective EMG & general data display & analysis software tools
available. The software is purposefully NOT sold in modules but as one
complete package to give the user a complete product at a price what is
below most basic entry packages of other commercial products.
The NEW V3.0 Biometrics Analysis software comes with a
comprehensive Help menu that may be used as a tutorial to use both
the hardware and software for the first time.
Summary of main features:
• Transfer data to memory for display, analysis and saving.
• Open an unlimited number of data files with the option to track the
time axis across all files allowing display & analysis for a large
number of channels.
• Waveform display in multiple windows and formats with full zoom,
scroll and area marking facilities, option to split, tile and cascade
windows
• Engineering units with custom scaling ability on all traces independently
• Each recorded file is both time & date stamped
• Independent upper and lower alarm levels both audible and visual.
• File save, load and export facilities with many files simultaneously
• Graphs may be pasted into other Window applications such as
Microsoft Office.
• Comprehensive filtering (see below)
• Power Spectrum
• X-Y graphs
• Multiple traces per window
• Unlimited number of windows
• Markers – time and/or Y axis
• Paste the graph & graph key to clipboard
• Full trace management (change line width, color, background color etc.)
• Export as ASCII or Wave file
• Calculations:- minimum, maximum, mean, number of excursions,
number of repetitions.
• Filtering:
~ rectify ~ scale
~ average ~ medium
~ RMS ~ mean
~ velocity ~ integrate
~ integrate ~ median frequency
~ offset ~ mean frequency
• Power Spectrum Graph (linear & logarithmic)
• FFT high pass filters: remove DC, remove very low frequencies
Settings
The Settings window displays the
settings used for the traces within
the current active display window.
The values relate to the analogue
traces 1 to 8.
• FFT window functions:
~ Rectangle / Flat top ~ Blackmann Opt
~ Triangle / Bartlett ~ Hamming
~ Blackmann standard ~ Hann
Display of right knee flexion / extension with raw unfiltered quadriceps
and hamstring EMG activity of a normal subject.
Power Spectrum
Inputs
If there is valid communications between the
PC and a DataLINK or DataLOG unit, the
Input Values window displays the current
analogue and digital inputs in engineering
units.
