GRS Positioning Vise/Block 

This unique block has many Magnablock similarities and one huge 

difference: you can reposition its center of rotation. By pulling the 

release lever you can slide the upper half of the block until your work 

is centered. This makes this block perfect for use under a microscope 

because it allows you to keep your work in the field of view as you 

rotate the block. With a traditional engraver’s block, this only happens 

when the work is near the center of the jaws. Often, this becomes an 

impossible limitation. The Positioning Vise/Block lets you move the 

center of rotation by simply pulling the lever. In seconds you can 

reposition your work to rotate within the microscope’s field of view. 

The GRS Positioning Vise/Block has other advantages as well, since its 

massive 42 lbs. weight can provide even more stability for your work.

GRS Engraving Blocks 

GRS Low Profile Vise/Block 

Some work needs a lower vise height. The Low Profile model offers 

GRS strength and quality in a shorter model. A popular use is under 

a microscope where the low profile helps many people find a more 

comfortable working position since microscopes have to be 6” to 

7” away from the work. 

The GRS Low Profile Vise/Block has the same jaw size and capacity 

as the Magnablock, yet is 1-1/2” shorter. 

The GRS Low Profile Vise/Block is also pictured on the optional heavyduty 

turntable base. By locking the Low Profile Vise/Block from turning, 

you can use the turntable for work rotation. This combination lets you 

move the work’s center of rotation like the Positioning Vise/Block. The 

10” diameter turntable is made from 4.5mm thick steel with a large ball

diamond power hone. Anyone who does engraving or stone setting 

and needs to keep their gravers sharp will love the diamond power 

hone because it makes it so easy to keep those edges perfectly 

sharp and true. 

The diamond power hone rotates at a fixed RPM of 240, allowing 

you to sharpen your gravers by hand or with the use of a graver 

sharpening fixture without heat build up. Gravers are sharpened 

quickly, and it’s a snap to produce beveled edges and precise cutting 

angles that would be near impossible to do on a stone by hand. The 

GRS Diamond Power Hone can be used for a variety of operations,

Quick Change Sharpening Fixture 

The new Quick Change Sharpening Fixture lets you transfer tools from 

any quick change handpiece directly to the quick change sharpener in 

two seconds. This Quick Change Sharpening Fixture has an advanced 

angular adjustment system. First, it has a elevation dial for setting the 

face and heel angles you want. Next, a calibrated rotary dial on the front 

of the fixture. This lets you rotate the tool around its longitudinal axis 

for creating any special angle you can imagine. But the best feature is 

hidden from view! Not only does the front dial rotate to any angle, it 

has built-in detente every 45° (8 detente total). You simply “click” to

Graver Handles 

Classic wood graver handles are available in a variety of shapes and sizes. We have several popular shapes that are 

imported from France, the rest are imported from India. To fit gravers you may choose from several different methods. 

One method is when you heat up the tang of the graver and then press the graver into the guide hole of the graver 

handle. The red hot tang burns a perfect fit into the handle. Another method is to use a drill to slightly open up the 

guide hole in the graver handle and then grind the tang of the graver into a point to fit into the graver. Using a wood 

block to protect the tip of the graver, you then hammer the graver tang into the graver handle.

Inside Ring Engraving Machines 

The Elma Ringstar 

The Elma Ringstar has many advantages over the basic dial 

type inside ring engraver. It uses the same engraving type 

that flat engravers use, with a wide variety of type styles to 

choose from. Since the letters are held in a type holder, it 

becomes very easy to see exactly where the engraving will go 

and whether or not the message to be engraved will fit inside 

the ring before you start engraving. Perhaps most importantly, 

you can adjust the size of the engraving to go inside the ring 

from 1mm tall to up to 3mm tall, a feature that the fixed dial
